Some expired got nice links to /subpages.html and each other.

301 them to / is nice. but Doing it for every old page, kind of cumbersome

Some dude gave the advice to setup a ErrorDocument for the 404s.

What is your take on this?
    redirect 301?
    rewrite rules?
    404 errordocument?

I would pass. Expired domains are not doing well anymore. Im pissed because I've spent a lot last year on ED. Pure crap... lots of good links and no results at all. Google wants content now... less and less backlinks. Only .edu and .gov are doing well, or some NYT.
