maybe some of you had the experience and could tell me/us about that kind of situation...

Let's say that I bought an expired domain which previously was indexed and now I've set up my own site on that domain (note: I'm using this domain not for PBN or 301 -- it's my money site), started to publish content and etc.
So after a little while, Google's WMT starts reporting high number of 404s (not found errors) -- from previously indexed domain pages which are not present any more.

So the question would be -- is there any possible ranking impact those 404s could make for my new site's content? And what would be the best way to deal with those errors; just leave them or 301 them to home page or etc.?

    Thank you very much! :)
