    1. get an expring domain with some Pr eg:2 or 3
    2. get cheap web hosting just for this site
    3. install wordpress
    4. load with plr content for 7 to 10days after that 1 to 2 articles pr day
    5. once indexed post short articles to this site with your links for your money site

    Home Page:
That's a good idea, now the trick is just to find those high PR websites that the owner actually lets expire.

Sure..for some pr and traffic , why not.
A trick that might work is make only one post/article appear on the page.
I have sometimes seen multiple pages from one domain be recognised by google as individual backlinks rather than one back link off one page with multiple stories.
As than that..you have mentioned a fairly standard and minor seo practise. :D

Use the forums like the one here or digital forum, you can even go to godaddy or snap names, just a little bit of research, it beats the hell out of profile links ok you spend a bit of cash but whats it worth if your in IM for the long haul?

This guy called Mike Liebner set up 3 to 4 sites like these which are 6 to 7 years old, so you need age old site with pr, you need to post unique content, so rewrite stuff and post, i've seen this at work and i'm just talking about speeding up a site for the long term benefit.

Finding expired domains is really easy, go daddy, snapnames, forum digital point, you can find great domains for sale at digital point with pr of 5 and even sometimes 6 or 7, but you've got to have rules about your site when you do this, you have to set the site up first, get google to visit it often which means postsing some plr content every hour for seven days and ping it as much as possible, i've tested it so i no it works, you then have to write your blog post just write at least 160 to 200 words, but the post must be on topic and only post one line to your main page and the other link to any inner page, only post once a day for each site and have the domain with another hosting company, you still want the site to grow and be important to google and it will last for years, i'm setting my sites up now, ok it cost a bit of money but save s all the messing around with profile links and blog comments.
