Hi All,
I am about to start blogging so I am looking for an expired domain to make things start easy.
A good one caught my eye but when I look back into the history it shows that it was a forum and in Spanish.
So, I'd like to ask if having differences in languages and content type(It was forum whereas I am to start a blog) will result in something bad to my blog site?
Thanks to everyone who gives his honest opinion.

not sure about the language aspect, but forum to blog conversion shouldn't negatively impact your future website. Just 301 redirect the forum URLs that are still indexed in google to the homepage of your domain name and then submit a sitemap to GSC including the URLs of the new website (the blog) and you're good

Thanks. But I am not sure that I will do 301 rediect. I would prefer to start a blog right on this expired domain. Which one of these two is better?

Are you keeping this in the same niche as it previously was?

Yes, bro. Same niche just different content type and language than before.

I personally would look for a different domain, but that's just me.

You'd look for a different domain for what reason?
1. previously it was in another language?
2. or previously it wasn't a blog but a forum?

The language. All the backlinks and anchors will be in another language.

The first one is what you suggested: do 301 redirect
The second one is to start the website right on the domain itself.

Oh, that! I would do the redirect simply because you retain the link juice. Neither option will hurt your website if that's your concern, but why not keep the SEO benefits if you can?
