Hi guys, I just found a great domain to register, it is PR 0 but it has several good backlinks from .edu and important journals, I think it is PR0 because in the last PR update it was unregistered so it was rated like that.

I think the link juice will remain cause there are very good links pointing to it, but, what do you think about it?

Thanks in advance BHW

Go for it, but do your homework before. Check archive, number of drops, and so on.

If it was unregistered at the time of the last update then I'd expect it to have PR N/A rather than zero but assuming the link profile looks good and you've done your due diligence with regards to spam checking then away you go.

As you and others said it has probably been expired for some time and lost it's PR.
I've picked up numerous good names this way. These domains pass filters of people looking for dropped names and end up being great domains.
Also check the Domain Authority, that will help as well.

And TF and CF, since OSE's data sucks ass.

I advice you to research more before going for that. Probably they would have used old linkbuilding technique for building links. If you bring that alive and start building new links, then the chances of getting penalized is high. So look for the quality of links they have. I am fan of expired domains most of the domains i am using brought from expired domains only. 1st thing i do after buying is disavow all links it has.

Disavow all the links? Might as well buy a brand new domain then.

The main purpose of buying expired domains is too piggyback on their links.

But yeah, the OP needs to research the domain thoroughly.

One note. Maybe the domain was penalized, which is why it was dropped? Make sure it wasn't, make sure there arent' a ton of spam links. Don't take on someone else's garbage.

Yes you are right! Disavowing all links is a bad idea.
If the site has thousands of backlinks and mostly from spam site it will be hard to disavow only bad links. In this case simply disavow all is the best option. Unless you have good funds/time for disavow.
If a site has few hundred links and yeah then disavow only spam links.
BTW buying expired domains just because it has huge backlinks is the worst idea. Instead go for aged domains.

If a site has hundreds of spam links, then simply don't buy it, and move on to the next one.

This is where your due diligence plays such an important part.

I don't care if it's aged or not, for as long as it has good quality backlinks pointing to it, and they are not easily removed, I'm sold.

Yes, I bought it, all the links were from spanish newspapers, great quality links, but PR0. Lets see what this domain can push my linkjuice :D

Thanks everybody for answering

Your PR will increase on the next update but you shouldn't worry about it. I am sure that the domain will give you great link juice ;)

If you see that is good go for it, while it is available .. it is abig advantage for you if have already a traffic ...

Lots of research helps. You don't wanna buy that domain only to find out later that it has so many spammy links pointing towards it.
