The website is ranked below me in the search engines but still in top 10. It expired on 12/31 so what do I need to do to get it. It is a PR1. I'm thinking about getting it and just redirecting my site to give it an extra boost. Does it retain its ranking and PR? Is there a better way to utilize the site?

Ranking will probably drop very soon after the domain get expired. However, PR might be retained if backlinks are present. PR1 is not very much but if you want to leverage that domain's old visitors to your site then redirection would come in handy.
