    Hi,

As some of you may know, we're building a tool similar to senuke. Application is still on early beta stages but we have the blog/web2.0, bookmarking, rss submissions, ping and email verification modules implemented. We're doing the article submission module now.

I have been receiving a lot of requests re profile links. As far as I know, these are the links that are created by creating an account on forums and adding a homepage.. I might be mistaken though.

So I reckon we need to implement:

    1. A google scraper to get forum URLs
    2. The Account creation module
    3. Profile Link module

I'm a bit confused here as I have not personally done this. I'd like to give it a go and add it to our software if the method does work.

Any thoughts on the matter (nice or not) are welcome :)

I think it would be difficult to implement a profile module because there are so many different website build platforms out there. Sometimes you need to click confirmation links in emails. The back-end folders and files will not always have the same or even similar names from site to site.

It could probably be done but you would have to specialize in the most common few types of profile format. That means getting a big list of profile links, working through them, finding out what can and can't be done.

You'd simply have to handle them differently in regards to their platform.

For example, most vBulletin and SMF forums simply require you to click an email confirmation link which is easy, however, something like punBB has three different verification methods and becomes harder to automate.
