I've seen several threads about "best place to Live abroad". Maybe some BHW members are thinking to move abroad and are asking themselves if their Google Adsense account will pay for their Lifestyle in the new country.

Today I found this neat tool:

    http://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living

You can do comparisons between cities and drill down to see exactly how much Internet connections, food and housing would cost. This is being updated like crazy with real prices from people that actually live there.

One or two ideas came to mind on how to use this for marketing activities. Maybe it can help you to make a better, educated decision.

If money is a concern: don't move to London! Rent costs for a flat are just plain crazy!

Vacation Travelling is Good, but moving to another City or Country is not that easy. Every Place have Good and Bad things.

This. After a while you will miss home. You will forget the reasons why you wanted to move away in the first place and remember all the good, glorifying it into the best place ever. You will start to take for granted the positives of your new adopted home and only see the bad (of which they will be).

Making new friends will be hard and it is unlikely you will make best friends of the type you left behind / grew up with / went to school with. If moving to a country with a different language this can add to your isolation.

Not to say don't do it, just be aware of it. I haven't been "home" in 4 years and see a lot of people move here, then after 6months to a year then leave as never settled and just treated it like a permanent holiday. Those that did settle, the 2 year mark seems to be when many also leave.

I never missed Europe, not for a second. I left, because I don't approve communism and now it got even worse, I don't understand why people in EU can be such sheeps and give away all their income to politicians and unemployed lazy asses.

I've live many places and this is a cool analytical comparison. I did a few places in Colombia and it was pretty good comparison as to how much further your dollar goes. Nice find.

I agree with not letting yourself get rose-tinted glasses once you leave. Homesickness is a sickness for a reason, my advice is don't be a pussy if things get a little tough, man the fuck up & keep moving your life forwards. Unless you left Eden to move to Gomorrah thinking it was a nice place. Otherwise don't look back, move forward.

I moved from the east midlands in the UK about 2 years ago and now live in Saskatchewan although the cost of living is about the same ish.... there's a quality to life and peace of mind living in Canada than there was in the UK, and its a shame to see that once great nation is now going to the dogs.
