I tough this may be useful. 2nd title can be: can't see the wood for the trees One of many blogs that I built long times ago, receiving some traffic that converts $5-$10 daily in ads. I totally forgot on that blog, and once or twice monthly just took brief look on stats,check everything and then go to do same for other similar blogs that I have. Ir is only important to see monthly incomes and if that is ok I am going further to next one and so on. I look at analytic but my eyes seeking lines that are not dropping, if they don't I just close and go on. On the other side, I have 1 big project that makes much more and it is CPA based, lots of prods etc. Point is that I familiar with product sales not just click sales. Few weeks ago, I was doing usually monthly checking of mentioned blog stats, like I am doing for past 3-4 years, and my eye stoped at few keywords that brings most traffic to that blog. I know for them, I targeted,make SEO etc to rank for that keywords so can make few buck on that blog on clicks, but never come back. Than I set down and decided to take 1 hour to think since few kwds was excellent to monetize on other ways. After 1 hour decided to remove ads, to make own product and to sell to people who come seeking for "xyz". So I done that, it took me 2 days to make simple digital product, nice graphs,blah,blah. Result: conversion on ads was few%(I mean on clicking) conversion on my own product which pays me 20x more than selling clicks. And conversion volume is 2x more than clicking on ads. Conclusion: there is no small or big business model, in every model you can break or make a lot, but you need to remove glitches in own head which don't let you to see the wood for the trees.
