ExactMatch.org or look for an Aged Domain?

Hey all,

I'm about to set up my second website and have done my keyword research to find a theme and about 7 category words which get well over 100 on SEOT per day.

My main theme keyword phrase is 2 words long and is available and someone already has a hxxp://www.word1-word2.com and is ranking number 2 with 9 indexed pages, 3 backlinks to the page and 4 backlinks to the entire domain. The domain is also 2 years old and has a PR of 0.

My question is that I can get hold of the exact match: hxxp://www.word1word2.org domain however would I be better looking for a similar domain that I could buy which has a few years age behind it or using the available .ORG?

My thought is that the domain I buy new should rank well in a short space of time with some optimised content and only a handful of backlinks.

However I know age has been a factor lately & I want to make sure I'm looking at this correctly, any advice?

Domain age is factor but not only one... There are lots of different factors also and if you take care of others then you can easily overcome this barrier...

2nd, 6th and 8th position are occupied by some domains which can be overcome easily... Overall i believe your niche doesn't have tough competition and few article directory, wikipedia or you tube type sites are keeping spots for them... You can easily beat them if you keep basic SEO in your mind...

I appreciate I'll need to do both On and Off page SEO aswell however would my option of been able to get the www. ExactMatch.ORG domain name look better to Google as the number 2 spot is also targeting the same phrase however has www. word1HYPHENword2.COM

If I build a few more backlinks and even get the same links as him + adding some LSI phrases as categories I'm assuming, logically, I'll be able to push him down to third and steal the number 2 spot?

Do you notice that Market Samurai does not include exact domain match as a competition factor? They do include the URL name though. Don't you think this is an indication that domain match is not competition, but URL match, meaning the page-format.html like this is?

I believe you are better off with an official, brand-able, and partial keyword match domain. Then create a page within your site that then targets that keyword. You can expand to include others then as well. Get a .org sure.

You really don't want to mess with the good or bad of what someone might have done with a previous site really. Google does keep a history of all that.

My experience with buying aged domains has been lack luster. It's great for the first month or two, but then google finally processes that the domain has passed ownership, then they hit a sort of reset button and anything the domain carried with it before like PR etc just goes down the crapper. Only reason I would buy an old domain now would be if it was of a brand that had been built a bit already, and I can build it further for what I want to do.
