Quick question? I'm looking to make some landing pages for long tail keywords, but when I'm doing research what method should I be using for the best results? Exact, Phrase or broad?

first clear your concept about ur target market keyword (every word is not keyword u know that ?)

    Go for Exact because

Exact = accurate words user type in google search

and its ur job u still find keyword in exact or not ;)

you should make at least a phrase keyword research, exact match will you give you an idea how many people search for exactly that combination.

if you make a broad research you only get numbers for any of the keywords that you type in the search field, so phrase will be fine for long tail.

for the longtail i would also monitor exactly from which keywords the users come to your site and optimize for that combinations.

    A good concept to consider when looking at searches is the lifespan of your site. I personally categorise my KW research into three sectors;

    1. Short term project (1 year or less) concentrate on Exact matches to gauge the traffic.

    2. Medium term (1 to 2 years) look at the phrase matches

    3. Long term (3 years+) Broad match

The reasoning behind this is that over time you will start to rank for shorter term keywords included within the broad count.

Short term = long tails = Exact
Medium term = medium tails = Phrase
Long Term = short tails = Broad

I always look at all three.

Broad gives you a general indication of how many people are using those words for searches.

Phrase tells you how many people are using that string of words in their search.

Exact tells you exactly how many people typed in that exact keyword.

All three are good indicators and can be used for branching off keywords.

Another thing you need to remember is to use LSI keywords. Google changed their ranking algorithm and people just targeting specific keyword and not using synonyms and semantically similar phrases aren't ranking as well as they used to, especially if it's a thin affiliate site.

Your landing page should be themed with relevant content on your site.

In any case, you should go with the exact search volume, Which will gives the proper result. I don't think global works fine. . Thanks
