I looked up a keyword on the Google Keyword Tool and it had 360k local searches and 500k total. Let's say it was 'potatoes in idaho.' I then checked the domain and the exact match domain was available.

You would think that nearly everything on this search would be local so that confused me. Then I realized that this was also a common kind of potato so my question is would the keyword tool include results if someone searched 'idaho potatoes in europe'? My market would be specific to the location so for this example I would sell banner ads to potato sellers in idaho.

I was thinking based on the specific search that all of my visitors would actually be in Idaho and looking for potatoes so this makes me question the value of my future site's visitors.

Do you mean is 'potatoes in idaho' my exact keyword? If so then no. If you mean are those numbers my exact search numbers then I guess I'm not sure. I used the keyword tool and got those numbers for the term and then I put it in quotes and got the same numbers. I'm a little unsure on the meaning of exact match domain I guess.

theres an option for this in the left menu to choose between exact and large search.

if you put your key phrase and select exact search, you will have the specific number for that specific query.

    thats what saber210 mean.

Ah that's what I've been missing. Thanks for pointing that out el_seo. Saved me some time/domain money. Only 170 local exact searches a month.
