hello BHW, this is my first thread in this forum and well, i think this is a very simple question to IM's rounding here.

What do you prefer for a better indexing and high rankings on a niche with high traffic and hard competence, a exact keyword domain or a keyword + fantasy name?

This will help me on my next move with my first authority site.

thank you for the info :)

Doesn't matter - both work just as fine. EMD is still the best option if available, but otherwise for for another brandable term.

I would go for later one... TO me, branding is more important that keyword ranking. I have tonne of ways to optimize my keywords and improve its ranking. SO, I would go for domain with brand name.

If I was you I would use short & smart domain name with no hyphens with no more than 2 words on it. The extension should be .com or if it is a local site - the top local extension to your country. Forget about .net and .org, unless you would make a site with thousands of unique, quality and useful articles.

EMDs lost almost all their power in the recent EMD update, so if the keyword is 4 words I would not register such domain. If the keyword is one or two words - than it is OK. If the keywords is 3 words I would personally not deal with such EMD.

Remember, do not read tutorials about domain snipping and other stuff made prior to the EMD update as they are old-dated. Try to be always up-to-date with the information. EMDs are not powerful as before, try to search for many popular terms and you will not see EMDs ranking on the top results. Only low quality keywords could be ranked with EMDs with 3 or more words in it.
