I know peeps keep saying its better to have exact keywords in the domain name, but will it matter if i add another word at the end if the exact keyword domain isnt available?

for example if cheapwebhosting.com wasnt avaialble would cheapwebhostingsale.com make any diff?

Yep I think that's ok as long as your main keyword is still there.

Exact match is always the best but one more word isn't going to kill you. Also keep it 4 words and under or else it looks too spammy.

Having the exact keyword in the domain helps....but that is in no way as useful as an exact match domain.

If this were true, then people wouldn't value exact match keyword domains so highly, as keywordx would be just as valuable as keyword. So you would just buy keywordx instead of paying extra for keyword.

Exact match keyword domains have extra value for SEO purposes. They rank more easily for that keyword, with fewer backlinks required.

    Example:

I have the domain name pinkfloydvinyl.com

I haven't done anything with it, no backlinks etc....yet somehow the site ranks 1st page for the keyword Pink Floyd Vinyl...

I don't even have content on the site yet...been too busy.

    Actually, I think it matters.
I have bought some domains and did nothing besides configuring Wordpress with some plugins and a 300 words article.

1 week before, I was already ranking high and with minimal link building I'm now sitting in the 5th position.

Of course, if the competition is too high, maybe it won't matter that much.
