So I'm trying to rank my site for some keywords that are highly searched, however whenever I release a new article on my site that contains that keyword, it ranks on the second page, even with barely any text in the article which then pushes my other article completely off Google.

So my dilemma is what page do I buy the SEO for? My home page or should I stick with one articles and buy backlinks to that specific page.

The only thing I do to with these new articles I'm referring to is post it in a large FB group and tweet it on my account that has over 500K active followers.

if it's a new site, try to spread your backlinks for multiples inner pages ( and homepage), go for branding first

How big does social signal help? I used to run twitter accounts, think I have a mil still sitting around, might just tweet stuff outside

Do you have links premade?

dont get that ... why when your new article ranks on page 2 for a new kw it pushes your other article away ??
Did you target the kw already with another article?
And the old one was on page one and gets pushed away ?

This is called keyword cannibalization and it's one of the reasons why I never target keywords on my homepage. For natural backlink profile (depending on the niche), I always go for 70% backlinks to the homepage. If I were to target keywords on my homepage, it would outrank any inner page. Thus, my homepage is always static with recent and best posts and all my money keywords are being covered by inner pages.

Link to homepage should always use a brand anchor. Money keywords should only be used for links to innerpages. I hope this little tip helps you.

what there trying to advise you, dont allow the front page look like a afflicate website .

google hate them.

always seo thr inner pages as the money pages useing the best keywords to get found on google .

on the first page a nice article in your niche but nothink to important as the inner pages are the money pages .

good luck .

longtail keywords still work.

the thing that get me from your post is why is your home page is knocking out other google pages , your home page must be in compitition with the inner pages to knock them out and google see it as duplicate content .

you got to also divide the backlinks up.

Yeah.. The social media is the most important thing now. Get retweets, likes, shares and you will be ranked very soon

Ok, usually there's an article I need to write around this particular keyword, so I have to write it. I don't even target the keyword in any way, shape or form. In fact, most of the time the keyword is under 50 words...

I write an article on that keyword, article ranks on second page for highly searched keyword with no backlinks or any SEO.
The following week I write another article on that keyword, article that was ranking the previous week disappears on SERPS and the new article takes it's place, or near enough.

Make sense?

In my opinion, the use of backlinks is also effective

why to sprea for inner pages and not to homepages?

for which Kws do you target your homepage?

For inner page do you target for different Keywords but always related to your niche in the end?

As I have said, I do not target any keywords on my homepage.

And yes, my sites are dedicated to one niche.

Post that article in LinkedIn and Google+. Try to do guest post for a site which have high DA.

You must be a troll for sure...

I am not trolling, I am noob on SEO man.

Let's suppose your website is in the niche ''shops on line''

Don't you target a kw for the home page? Do you focus on long tails kws (LSI made from ''shops on line'') for inner pages?

posting on social media is one of the best options, then making use of backlink is another great idea like working guest post on bigger site on your niche which can rank your site keyword, also remember to share on forums too thanks

Optimize each page for a different word. Use compound words, add buying imperatives or offer suggestions.
So the home page might be "Widget" then the inner pages are "Widget for Sale" "Best Widget Offer" then maybe "Blue Widgets" whatever. Don;t keep writing for the same keywords. You'd be better writing one bigger article for the main phrase then adding articles for the associated phrases as you went. Keep writing articles for the same keyword makes little sense.

Also. What's your competition doing on page one?
Are they winning with links or content or both? Are they brands or unknowns? Are they new or old?

Untill you know this it's hard to give a good strategy.
