Ever wonder why you always see "lorem ipsum" in templates?

I have wondered this for the longest time and finally got it figured out.....I always thought people who did templates were from another country or something like that lol....but I guess not....this web site has a lipsum generator in it....pretty cool as well as some interesting facts

If you have word 2007 you can generate as much of this as you want using the =lorem command.

simply open a word 2007 doc and type the following:

    =lorem(paragraphs,sentences)

where 'paragraphs' is the number of paragraphs you want and 'sentences' is the number of sentences in each paragraph.

So for example, if you wanted 8 paragraphs with 5 sentences in each, you would enter:

    =lorem(8,5)

I don't think this is actually documented in the MS Word help files but I've found it useful.

And for those who really want to know, Lorem ipsum is latin but is slightly mixed up, so it doesn't really make sense. It's believed to be based on text from Cicero's 'de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum' written in 45 BC, which begins 'Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit...' (There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain).

Obviously Cicero never met any masochists :)

lorem ipsum was used by the print industry as placeholder text long before web design.
