Hey guys sorry for this question but I couldn't find an answer. I'm writing an essay for college and this is what I'm having a problem with please help.

    Should it be...

The origins of photography date back over 180 years.

    or

The origin of photography date back over 180 years.

It's probably the first one but I'd like to know for sure. (I'm thinking that it's the first one am I correct?)

    Thanks BHW.

The first is probably what you want, but either of these is fine:

"The origins of photography date back over 180 years."

    or

"The origin of photography dates back over 180 years."

Notice where the 's' is on date(s) and origin(s) in both sentences.

Okay great thanks! It's actually the first sentence, and I was thinking a lot about it when I was writing. Couldn't put it together in my head lol
