Pretty standard story starting off, been lurking and reading intently for months. It's my first time doing any IM and so I'm going to be trying out a variety of things/concepts and see what works and what doesn't. Obviously different niches require different approaches. Veeery slowly I've been doing some niche/keyword research and putting together a site but it's been going too slowly. I'm sick of my job and working hard for someone else and not seeing any return. Also, as do all good stories, this story involves a girl. I spent the last year and a bit putting all my time and energy into trying to take care of this girl and make her happy. I ended up low on savings, depressed, and hadn't seen a lot of friends in months. And you know what? I was the only one to blame because I should have been focusing on myself. If you put all your time and energy into someone else and something happens, you're left with nothing. I've chosen IM because I know if I stick with it and push like I've done in other things in my life I can kick ass and live the life I've always wanted. It also reminds me of gaming where you're constantly bombarded by stats and feedback and "You levelled up!" notifications. My strengths have always been analyzing things, getting involved, and finding out what works best and then helping teach others. It's the reason I've excelled quickly at a lot of things in life and moved up to positions of leadership. While I like doing this and it gives me great joy, I realize that right now I don't have any experience and only know what I've read. I'll try to keep things here brief and informative so that you can follow along on my journey, hopefully start your own and most importantly, be inspired to take charge of your own life and never give up! Also, it's a good place to write down daily goals, updates, etc. Things will be organized into projects so you can see what is doing what. I've saved up $4,000 while researching and reading on the sidelines so I've got a healthy budget to start and experiment with. OVERALL PLAN Project: DERP DERP First project, probably not the best niche because I only really see adsense as a way of generating money from it so if I get banned for whatever reason the site is useless. Also niche seems very shallow so not too many possible articles without being repetitive, hence the name DERP DERP. Make niche site w/ adsense driving the revenue. 1500 word landing page targeting main keyword, w/ 3 supporting categories with 4-5 x 500 word articles each. Going to start with just 4-5 articles total and then post the rest until all are posted to make Google happy the site is updated. Strong on-page SEO with each article targeting specific keywords and using LSI keywords in the article. Relevant images at the start of each post with ALT-tags and strong internal linking. Track site from day 1 using Google Analytics and requesting pages be crawled using Google Webmaster Tools. Use proxies for link building. Link buliding: - Build Web 2.0's with decent-ish quality 500 word articles, some just 1 page, some 2 page sites. - using link indexing in ScrapeBox to get the backlinks built indexed faster. - Article directory submissions - Blog commenting - Crappier tier 2 web 2.0 articles directing to tier 1 web 2.0's - Once things get going and when/if I need a boost I'll look into buying expired domains for a PBN and boosting it with more web 2.0's It's not a very social niche so no social bookmarking. SOFTWARE, ETC. KeywordRevealer (keyword research / difficulty comparison) KWFinder (keyword research / difficulty comparison) Dragon Naturally Speaking (content writing) TreePad (organizing articles/categories for sites) Google Sheets (for tracking/managing backlinks and budgetting) AutoFill Magic (for creating Web 2.0's) ScrapeBox (scraping content, images, proxies, forum posts, blog posts, etc.) Day 1 goals and progress update will start tomorrow (I gotta run to work)! ^_^ Let's do this!!!
