I have few sites that have this "end of results"-penalty, where my site is literally at the last page of SERPs for it keywords. Does anyone have experienced this, what you think was the cause and how did you recovered?

How did you manage to check your rankings so deeply (950)?

Just went to the last page of serps where my site is comfortably hanging, so not exactly -950, its just the name this penalty has been given.

something similar happening to my keywords at the moment except they are all at 650+, not sure what to do at this point, other than lower on site optimization.

Many of my KW's are also more like 650, because google shows only 65 pages.

I didn't come up with this name, not sure where is it from. Just searh "-950" penalty google - from google and you find a lot of discussion. Haven't found anything usefull yet though, that's why I'm asking here.

Has anyone here been successful removing this -950/end of results penalty? should I continue building this site as I spent a lot of time on it.

Long story short my domain is around 5 months old and up until around 2nd may most of my posts (100+) were ranking in top 50 in Google. Overnight all my rankings dropped outside top 600. When I search on SEO serp for my keywords they are all at 650 ish position.

I may of overdid it a bit with link building but nothing horrendous.

If you have any pointers for me I would be really grateful. I really have no experience with penalties. All I have done so far is lowered the onpage SEO for my keywords.

Is this something I should wait 3 months for to expire or is my site a lost cause? Any tips welcome.

    Thanks.

    Hey,
Yes I have experienced the end of results penalty many times. Except for what I call the "sandbox phase", this is due to duplicate content inside your website. Like if you search for "blue widget", you may find results about another pages of your website, but which contain some content about "blue widget", and your target page will be at the end of results.
But, this is a different behavior than the penguin update, which will also show different pages instead of your target page.

Thanks, that's an interesting read and confirms a part of my theory
Also, I've just read that some penalties last for ~30days, and some last even more... (from Matt Cutts)
Am i the only one that thinks it is too long?

I guess it will always seem to long to the person who gets punished. Some penalties last ~90 days, now that's pretty harsh. My penalty was imposed a week after I 301'd an old site that was penalized to the new one. I undid the redirect and the old site is now indexed for its URL only. I'm hoping my site will bounce back now that it doesn't have that bad redirect pointing at it anymore. It'd suck if I have to wait 30 days before it updates my rankings.

I don't mind if it takes 90 days with mine, I just want it to come back eventually as I like the domain name and enjoy writing content for it. I want to build a long term authority site but Google makes it extremely difficult to compete sometimes.

Hope you guys get your rankings back soon.

Has anyone that has posted in this thread recovered from the -950 penalty?

The question I have is whether the penalty is automatic or manual?

Ive experienced this. My site was penalized and all the indexed pages would be found on the last page at the bottom.
Im sure it was due to link building. I tried all sorts to get it back including some expensive hi pr networks off here and nothing made a difference so I gave up on the site.

Thing is after id about given up on it it suddendly started rising. First to 100+ then to page 1.
The bad news is the site was gone for easily 12 months. Now its back im too scared to build links to it haha

edit: by the way i received no message in WMT. MajesticSEO always gave the site a DA of over 30 and the domain itself was a PR4. Now the DA has dropped slightly and its down to PR1. Im thinking either a 12 month penalty or possibly a toxic link or two where the domain has now expired.

One of my sites got/has this penalty. Its been penalized since March 2012. Every now and then it gets in the top 50 of SERPs (it was positions #1-3 before penalty), but then bounces back to the last page.

It will be a year on March 15-20th, so I'll see if the penalty lifts at that point. BTW I was penalized for link building. I haven't built any links to my site since it happened, nor will I. I'm just keeping the site active to see how long the penalty lasts.

I've never been penalized for linkbuilding/toxic links and I don't really believe in it either as you could do this to your competitors then. I have been penalized for duplicate content though but that is fixable within a week, rebuild the page properly and add it to wmt again.
