You know what? When you learn things your own, you will surely go through "crying". I have literally cried when I started coding and I was into shitty scenerios. Another thing that made my cry was setting up servers, and something going wrong somewhere. You will literally pull your hair off, and weep into you pillow. :) Do that. Once you figure out how to solve it, you will never forget how to.

Tell us how did you insert the logo. Did you replace the logo image? or you edited the css? or you edited the theme file? or did you change it via admin panel banner option for themes.

In WP, there are always more than 1 way to do things. So please be specific, so people here can help you.

I think the image is too big, can you crop it to 960x209 and see if that works.

Or keep the width and crop the height to 209

OP just use something like the "simple custom CSS" plugin to copy and paste your css edits. It holds during updates. The proper way is to utilize a child theme for customizations, but an easy effective way is the plugin.

This way your safe. If you mess anything up, just delete the code.

EDIT: I hope you are utilizing inspect element or something and not just going into the style.css files. That I completely do not recommend you do. If you mess something up there, you're screwed unless you know what to do.
