I have two EMDs available to me (three word match). They look like this in G Keyword Tool:

What do you think? - Hot or Not?

It depends on how competitive the first page is for these two keywords. And i find that even tough the CPC is quite interesting, something < 1000 searches a month isn't really worth the time. Of couse this is a general rule, because some very specific niches with less than a thousand searches a month could be very buyer orientated, in which case you could still make a decent amount of money with as low as 30 unique visits per day

Depends on price per sell. If every visitor could potentially earn you $1000, then its obviously hot.

With the search volume so low, I'd be pessimistic. Even getting ranked #1, you'd get about half of those visitors to your site. For the second KW let's be optimistic and say 200 visitors per month. What percent would you convert? Even at 5% that's 10 purchases. But like the previous poster said, it depends what your average sale is. 10 purchases of a $1,000 product is much better than 10 purchases of a $19 product. And 5% conversion may be generous.

I think EMD still matters in terms of what G looks for, however, it is one of hundreds of signals. You also need good content and good links to secure your #1 place.

EMD definitely helps to rank. If niche is very easy same EMD is enough to land in top 10 results. Last week I bought 3 EMD and 2 of them ranked in top 10 immediately.

I was asking about this more in regards to the traffic volume (or lack thereof) considered with the CPC's of $50. Adsense here I come.

You'll probably receive 50% of the traffic it says when you rank at 1st spot. However sometimes (not often) Google Keyword Tool external isn't giving the right estimates. I saw keywords where GKT said 1000 and the traffic was 10 times lower. I remember also situations where it said 100 and the traffic was 10 times higher.

It really depends. Let's say you get 150 of those visitors - a click through for AdSense is going to be under 5% generally. That would be roughly be about 7 clicks at an average of $50 but it will likely be significantly less. that is average so it may be lower or higher. Keep in mind you could also sell the domain because that may be worth a lot more to someone with a higher payout per conversion.

Keep in mind 5% is a very high ctr. Just my 2 cents :)
