Hello everyone. I've recently found out that an artist signed a record deal for a couple of million. Her domain name is available for 2 thousand and it's available to be bought. Do you think that it would be a wise investment to buy it and then try to sell it to her record company later? She's not currently BIG but she has a buzz right now.

You could certainly try your luck but quite frankly - your odds would be similar to those of taking the $2k, walking into a casino and putting it on red (i.e. 50%).

That's because a) that's just calling for trouble - with "trouble" being in best case scenario a domain name dispute, as a result of which you're demanded to forgo the domain name or if you're unlucky then a court case; b) the person can simply not be interested.

Read more about registering trademarked domains at http://domain-name-lawyer.blogspot.com/2012/01/no-you-cant-register-famous-trademark.html.

And yes, this also applies if the person hasn't yet trademarked their name.

That is a huge gamble bud, all depends if you're willing to risk the $2k or not.

Sorry but no, she owns her name and trying to do so will make you loose the domain if she knows what to do, however you can buy it and make money with it if it's worth that much to you, I wouldn't
