First off thanks to all BHW members and the elite BHs for guiding us newbies with all your knowledge.Totally appreciate your help. I have been reading and reading and now i think it will be a great time to start my first micro niche site and see how it goes. I am looking to start a micro niche site in the green area because I hold a masters in the area nad thought I could write good articles for my site ( this site will be my baby for a long time ) and I was able to find a domain with a good US keyword search count (4400 searches) The CPC was also over $1 and all the MNS creators advertise these two criterias, I think I am in the right path.

The .com version is owned by a squatter i guess and the .net version is an OKish site with 250 odd links . But the #1 site that ranks for my keyword is a shorter version of my KW. I think this is probably a long tail KW he ranked for while targeting his actual keyword. But this site has 1000 links. Should I be worried about ranking issues. How easy would it be to reach #1 spot for my KW ?

Thanks in advance for your time and advice.

    Cheers,
    TD

Uhm... That's AdWords competition, not search competition...

You don't need any tool for doing keyword research for one keyword.. Install "google global" firefox addon just search for the keyword in google...Just check how many backlinks those pages have and the pr of the pages. If you r comfortable with the number then go for it.

    energy efficient _________________ (appliance)

Rinse and repeat through every appliance in a household. Aircons, refrigerators, electric stoves, etc. Make articles that compare the top 5 or top 10 energy efficient products. Adsense would probably work, but they're buying keywords so probably amazon would be better.
