    Hi all,

I've ranked a 20 character 2 word .net EMD with no problems before and I've also ranked a 10 character 2 word .com EMD even easier.

Now I found a .com that is like:

    websitedesigntownidaho . com

and a .net that is like:

    webdesigntown . net

I've read all sorts of different things on this subject and I'm leaning towards the .com

the only thing holding me back is the 4 words. I am not so much worried about the 23 characters as I am about having 4 words. I've read and think that 4 words would be perceived as spam by Google. However, there are no stop words in these domains (making them more trustworthy in my opinion.)

I've also never worked with geo targeted keyword rich domain names. Does anyone have any insight into my 4 word dillema?

Would you go with the 3 word .net or the 4 word .com?

    Thanks!

.net, the shorter the domain name the better.

The EMD boost doesn't really happen with longer domain names.

    source: I own 2200+ EMD's.

Thank you for the replies, didn't think I'd get any respected members to answer so fast!

The domain is just for a blog, its not going to be the main blog of the professional website. Just one to target that specific city with a couple of articles and link building etc. to promote. We are going to a have another blog as a sub-domain of our main domain with more company update type stuff.

With that being said I think I'm going to go with the .net because its shorter. Over 20 characters is just too much, I agree.

    Thanks!

I don't think so as I just came across a 36 letters COM EMD ranking #8 for the keyword hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia

Yes I have seen some long EMD ranking well for their keywords too. I do believe that the EMD benefit diminishes with a long name though. Dosn't mean you can't rank for the keyword, just that you won't be getting the extra EMD boost.
