What do you think about all those packages offered in the Services for Sale section.
For example paying $100 for 6 PR 6 links, social bookmarking, Web 2.0 links etc.

Do you think they are worth it and will help my websites ranking? Or do you think its a waste of money!

I have around 10 projects. All of them are EMDs. One of the site -- with as little as 3 pages of "unorganized" content -- is already at #10.

I am not a huge fan of "monitoring" results these days. My top priority is to make sure the site is loaded with original content. Then I monitor.

Note: I plan to have at least 40 articles. So, yes, we are just getting started.

Here is what I did: Write a super-personal intro with keywords sprinkled here and there -- rarely do we see websites with personal story these days.

Next, I hired a writer. She is writing articles as we speak. Again, these are super-helpful content. I have also hired a social bookmarking guy who works minimum of 10 hours on manually bookmark URLs.

I am expecting to hit no.1 spot by next month.

Global search: 60k.

Already ranking on the first page within the first week. So yes, EMDs work!

Like to input what my EMDs are doing after many updates. All my EMD sites have over 30 articles of 500-800 words each. They are all "authority" sites with age domain of PR1-3. For those with poor quality tier 1 backlinks, many of them dropped to over 6-10 pages away from page 1-3. As for those recent sites that backlinked with quality tier 1, most of them remain same position, dance abit here and there. All my sites have likes and followers in them. So I believe EMD still can work, but with cautious.

Just hit #7 today! I am busy but will answer all questions later on today

Thanks for sharing your journey thus far. I am trying to rank a website that has been hit by the recent updates. Google has deindexed all of my backlinks, but not my website. What should I do? I'm thinking of building up to 5 Web 2.0 properties per day and try to index them using BacklinksIndexer. In addition, I was planning on looking at my competitors' backlinks and posting manually on them if possible.

Does that seem like a good strategy?

By the way, your journey has really opened my eyes. I used to spam my website with ScrapeBox links (high OBL) before. That's probably why my rankings went down. I'll start posting unique content again.

:) This used to work long time ago. Tools like AHREFS will show your competitors link profiles.

My website was at #7 spot for just ~ 1 hour and dropped to #13 again but it made $4 extra from Adsense so I guess first page will be profitable.

I just wanted to say your Gillette Razor blade comment made me laugh too much. Great thread btw, I have no problem using EMDs, not sure where people got that from but my theory is most of the emds were completely trash sites to begin with and got smacked. People being people saw emd+shit content = no rank therefore it must be emd that's the problem and discarded all other factors.

It's funny isn't it :) Some EMDs domains doesn't have a chance. For example using more than 2 keywords in the name. Using very popular keyword in the name, which triggers autho filters. Using hyphens etc.

This is a question about your link building.

The sites that link in and build your rankings, are they your own personal sites?
Or do you actually outreach and ask for links on others blogs?

I was wondering the same thing. I had no idea - this is the first I've seen it mentioned.

I just did a little more research and found that, among other (slightly less convincing) factors, the value of a hyphenated EMD was decreased with the Google EMD update (whatever the name of that update was - I'll call it loris, since that's a cool animal).
For the sake of using that in a sentence; the Google Loris update decreased the value of a hyphenated EMD.
On behalf of the under appreciated loris, I thank you for giving me that opportunity.

Well i think that 1 hypen or dash is ok for the domain, but two or more will look like a spam.

I dont have any data or information to back up my reply.

Hyphenated domains lost Googles love long long time ago.

Avoid even one hyphen if possible.
