Why is phone verification a big deal?

Just use one of those free receive SMS services.

Maybe because people sometimes uses 100,000 emails for some projects, not one or two made on free sms service.

I am using mail.com for few years now.It never required any verification, nor accounts ever expired. And account creation is super simple, i'm on my phone most of the time and i can do an account in a minute, inside the app. Also i find useful the unified inbox, where you can read all emails , all accounts in one place.I didn't had more than 3 at once though, as it's hard to keep track who's who.I have somewhere around 15-20 accounts created with them, no questions asked.
