I have a few questions in regards to email marketing.

I decided to start yesterday and so far I've created a website, set up an autoresponder (using ListWire), and now I'm looking for offers to promote.

I currently have 13 subscribers. I'm looking to gather more subscribers and I'm also looking for a free emailing service. MailChimp is out of the picture for me at the moment.

Is there anything I should be aware about before continuing with email marketing?

There are probably all kinds of things you need to know before continuing, but you won't discover what those are until you experience them in your model. The fact that you are taking action instead of sitting paralyzed by information overload speaks wonders about where you are, and where you are going. Don't be afraid to reach out if/when specific challenges arise. I'm confident you're going to figure things out. One day in with some positive data - most impressive indeed.

If you want more subscribers try to easily funnel them to a higher quality landing page.

You can try growing your opt-in list with some email blasts using paid or free smtp with a email software like TEAR (check my sig)
I've built aweber/getresponse lists extremely fast with this method. Just remember not to send a link in the first email to avoid the spambox
