I have two websites (simple business sites) that each rank very well for two separate keywords (city based). Each website ranks well for one city (same keyword).

I'd like to get rid of one of the sites (aka 301 redirect) to the other site. What would that do to my rankings? I'd like just one site to rank highly for both cities. Neither site has the city in the domain name. The rankings I achieved were purely due to link building and time.

Search engine says that you can do this and they will update their listing accordingly but they don't guarantee it. So do it on your risk you might get one site ranking for both or may loose one. Also they may take few weeks to update their system so it might happen that after few days you loose one of your listing and it may take few weeks before it come back with another domain.

If it's not making much effect in revenue or traffic then you can try or you can keep both domain harldy $10/year.
