It was just a couple weeks ago that the CEO of GoDaddy released a video of himself hunting down helpless elephants and taking some nasty footage the whole way through. Standing in front of his killed elephant like a fool, did Bob Parsons, CEO of GoDaddy, even think about the consequences of his actions and footage which would soon spawn across millions of web sites and domain owners? ... or was Bob Parson simply looking for the attention he tries to get every year with his Superbowl commercials that always try to push the envelope? Either way, he did get the attention, but he also helped GoDaddy lose a decent amount of customers and increase the competition at the same time.

It's quite amazing to see that over 20,000 domains were transferred away from GoDaddy to NameCheap. You can read the full story and watch the original elephant hunting video here.

This is old news, its even been posted on this site before.

I don't see anything wrong with it, it was problem elephant. And it fed a lot of people. The only difference between a cow and an elephant, is the elephant fed more people.

That would be the solution to world hunger. Except there are fewer elephants than cows. And their population isn't exactly thriving. And people love elephants, that's why you try not to shoot them. They're like walking dolphins, fer Chriss' sake, and everybody loves dolphins. And if you do kill an elephant, You'll lose customers.

He should have killed a hyena, or a vulture, or a man-eating tiger. I bet Bob Parsons wears his poker face to work every day, but at night cries like a baby and sucks on his thumb, wishing he could go back in time.

Oh, and as usual, I'm only half-kidding.

This issue all boils down to perspective in my opinion. Personally when you have a company as big godaddy, you have to be careful. Hot and attractive girls in commercials is one thing, but when you show videos and images like this, it can be highly offensive to some employees and customers, regardless of the context or reason behind it. We as internet marketers should figure out a way to monetize this drama ad make some money on it! I'm sure there are a TON of ways to do that! Lets make money while the fire is still hot. :)
