Can't be helped. Technology makes everything easy. The best way to use it is to make money out of it.
Doesn't this statement solidify the point of the thread? Technology will be used for evil, money is non-existent?
Yeah. Saw this pic on FB few days back and it certainly does show we are becoming slaves of Technology. We become restless if our net disconnect for a day. We prefer calling friends rather than meeting them in person because we wish to save time. A majority of people spend more time with damn bloody "Idiot box" than with their near and dear ones. I know I sound like a pessimistic idiot, but one can't argue on the fact that we are actually becoming slaves of technology.
People attached/fascinated to technology to the point where it dumbs them down are the same people that would have believed in magic during the dark ages...which are the same people holding onto some terrifically backwards ideas today.
Don't admonish them tho. Imagine what it would be like to be ignorant of your own self-enslavement (trick question, which shows why society's problems have lasted so long).
They'll break out of the trance eventually (read: could take a while), but until then, make sure you don't lose sight of what's important in life, and also, be kind to yourself and your surroundings.
When the trance is broken, we'll have to deal with the next monsters, which are the lurking of dark emotions of cowardice by keeping quiet and keeping their heads low by entertaining themselves, hoping to avoid whatever bad thing comes in the world by posturing as elite and the dark emotion of wanting to live a easy, luxurious life.
^ These two last points will bring on the largest confrontation we've ever known, the fight between liberal and centralized freedom. Are we able to truly govern ourselves, or are we really just a bunch of pleasure seeking animals until given limits that are for our own good? The result of this will see if people will live in an grand, illustrious, global middle-class, or if we're going to see masters and slaves as the continuing, and intensifying, model of humanity.
pic is too old man. i rarely visit 9gag but I have seen it twice there lol
Personally i believe all these distractions that dumb people down (Facebook, Twitter, iPhone apps, games etc) serve a good purpose in keeping most people distracted and making them stupid which means less competition for those who are strong minded and able to take action to use the new tech to start your own business and make money online and live independent of the society economic system that ties you down and deprives people of their freedom.
Having coffee with frens..... I guess the image itself proves it!
I don't text, I don't play video games, never got into Palm pilot, use a simple pre-paid cell and not a smart phone, watch no entertainment news/gossip show, own no beanie baby, follow no reality show...Oh my, what's wrong with me?
The real problem is "boredom". You can have fun going outside and not sitting on your computer all day every day but with time it gets boring because you keep doing the same thing.
Einstein, Huxley and Orwell were all right! While its a shame that what Einstein said is proving true (and I am willing to admit i'm addicted to technology) Im more worried about the other two
When a place gets crowded enough to require ID's, social collapse is not far away. It is time to go elsewhere. The best thing about space travel is that it made it possible to go elsewhere.

Good luck getting into space...
Especially with heavy steel balls j/k
Yup I just dealt with this same bull shit...Took a friend out to a nice restaurant buying them dinner and they text on their
phone constantly as I stare at my food. I mean damn...:hmmmm2:
Life has been always a rat race. If you get caught on the trap, you'll be stuck maybe in a while or forever. The smart ones will always win. Everyone was once smart until entertainment came in and slow down some of us.
