    This no doubt SUCKS!

Effective March 31, 2008 Ebay sellers that sell digital products will be in violation of Ebay Regulations!

Digital goods are often reproduced at little to no cost to the seller. On eBay, this creates the potential for Feedback Manipulation (both real and perceived). To preserve the integrity of the Feedback system, effective March 31 all goods that can be digitally downloaded or transferred electronically must be listed using the Classified Ads format.

Using the Classified Ads format, sellers receive a 30-day ad at a fixed price. This solution enables sellers to continue to market their digital goods on eBay; however, because Classified Ad listings are a lead generation tool and do not result in transactions that go through eBay, Feedback cannot be exchanged between buyer and seller.

Sellers who wish to continue to offer digital goods can do so by selecting the Everything Else>Information Products category in the Sell Your Item form and choosing the Classified Ads format (not auction-style or fixed price).

For more information about the Classified Ads format, please read Advertising with Classified Ads at hxxp://pages.ebay*comhelp/sell/f-ad.html

    What a crock of shit.

If they really wanted to 'preserve the integrity of the Feedback system' they would leave it as-is. The new changes also prevent sellers from leaving ANY negative feedback for deadbeat / scamming BUYERS whatsoever.

But don't worry, buyers can still leave negatives for sellers. Now THAT'S a system with integrity!

    </rant>

    Carry on.

    FOR EBAY DIGITAL ITEMS SELLERS:

...the only way to go around this mew policy is by printing out or burn the digital products on CDs and DVDs and deliver them by regular mail. That way you'r no longer in violation of the new eBay policy.

    ..just a thought :)

Didn't mean to come off as a bitch there. It's not a big deal, it was just the third or fourth time I saw a thread on it.

    It's all good dude.

This is a great idea, also shared in the other thread. Just make sure in the auction that you explicitly state that you are sending a physical cd and not a digital product. Props on that.

Wonder if you were to state the auction is for a physical cd as well as access to your site where instant download is available for those that are so inclined. Then when they go to the site if they choose the download format it voids the physical cd shipment.
Does this make sense? If not just ignore me I'm a little drunk lol

upsy.. sorry about that.. gotta be more carefull. :D

but the idea is good. but the only thing is that now involves shipping and handelling. there are ppl out there selling 100s of digital products every day. I think it's gonna be a little bit harder for them to send all that in physical items :)

That is in violation of the new terms.

If you want to go that way, send a private email from paypal and offer them a chance to download it now. But you will still need to send the disc

There is also an issue it seems with the existing catagory itself...
I do currently burn my stuff to CD & send it out...but yesterday when I was relisting the items...It wouldn't let me post even though it was a physical product...

I finally got pissed off & listed it as a "book" vs ebook in the everything else catagory...

You have to be careful PMing the person..because if some moron reports you
they could shut you down for going around thier TOS.

Although another method which can be used on ebay & even for CPA offers is to setup multiple accounts which you can PM people with your offers.
I had a basterdized version of BaymailPro created, but it only lets you send 10emails at a time to ebay IDs per day (Ebays limitation- not the software)

So multiple accounts could be created w/different email addresses & just use them to PM people- that way if they shut you down - it wouldn't matter because the IDs aren't assoicated with your seller ID

Definately dont pm using ebay. They will catch you.

What i suggested, was emailing direct through their paypal email, ebay dont know what goes on there, Someone would have to report you.

(some may buy just to test you at first though so i would stay clean at first)

You guys forget that eBay owns PayPal and in my experience, eBay knows EVERYTHING that goes on in your PP account.

Although I think this new policy sucks,(More than a bit regressive and due to the fact, I believe that so many eBay buyers are NOT set savvy and simply don't know HOW to get a digital download, so they charge back when they should not!)sellers will now have proof of delivery in the form of a USPS tracking number.

This policy will however, seriously limit offshore sales as in most cases tracking numbers are not available outside of the USA.

eBay is becoming do buyer oriented that it is no longer safe for sellers. In future, I'll do cars on eBay but little else.
