Everyone that i ask about this swears that it is true but no one can tell me why they believe it. Have any of you any proof that it is better than HTML?

that's like asking someone to prove that SEO works. No matter what someone can say "oh, that was just random/lucky" when your site hits the top.

It doesn't matter whether wordpress or any platform, the more important is the content. If you follow search engine guidelines then your site will ranked up.

actually html is better because is faster but it doesn't matter the platform, is a very stupid thing to believe that people had success with Wordpress because they didn't-ed tried something else.

It is not like asking if SEO works, It is asking if everything else were exactly equal, would the WP site outrank the HTML site purely because it is a WP site.

I have sites #1 in Google written in HTML and WordPress. I know SEO works, I am trying to find out if it is a myth that WP ranks better or not.

With wordpress you bring your content up more easily, and it is actually true that it's SEO friendly. First, wordpress makes tags and categories automatically and that way makes interlinking of your pages. Further you can install good seo plugins (like yoast seo or some other), you can easily switch permalinks, etc etc. This doesn't mean you will by default outrank some html site, it just makes your on page seo much easier.

It's just simply that wp has nice on-page seo by default, if you compare it to some other platforms. But no, google doesn't rank websites based on the footer text "Powered by Wordpress" :p

If you have a static, basic wordpress site vs a static, basic html site there is no difference.

Wordpress is a content management system and fresh content can help you rank faster. It is easier to add fresh content to wordpress than an html site.

Then you get to plugins. There are some plugins that can basically force Google to love your site through onsite SEO, fresh content (either user generated or auto generated) and building backlinks.

I have to disagree with WP making SEO easier. Many times and in many cases WP SEO is a nightmare. You think the SEO is right because you fill our a few boxes? All the text on the page is used to evaluate a page, so blogrolls and tag clouds dilute all that wonderful content, and kills your keyword density. Then you are not targeting what you think you are, but it will be just a little off. That creates un-targeted traffic, and most people are oblivious to that fact.

More than likely your theme has no h1 tag, or multiple ones, has 1 h2 or h3 and that is it.

All of the above depends on the skills of the person involved in building the site, or in expanding capabilities because of widgets and plugins, all of which are possible with HTML, CSS, Java and Flash. I can do anything with a script that you can do with a plugin or widget, and I can put it where I want to.

WordPress is a damn sight easier to learn to use, but there is still a learning curve. HTML is a damn sight easier to build what you want with, though.

I am not asking is it better for people who don't code or know SEO. Or if it is better for newbies, I mean is there a bonus for using WP over HTML/CSS as long as in both cases you have skills adequate to the job at hand?
