Hi i have a site ranking #1 for a exact match of 300k a month, the domain name was a EDM with "whitehat" links pointing to it, now the site is showing up #389 after the last update.

I have got another EDM domain in the same niche with a different keyword and i wanna use all my content that i have in the "penalize" domain(i dont know if its a penalty or just rank lost).

Can i do a 301 redirect to the new domain without getting the NEW keyword/domain penalize.

    Thing to point out

The new domain got another Exact match term different from the penalize site.

As far as I know, the general consensus is that a 301 CAN transfer the penalty to the new domain

    It might work....

EMD bonus which has been leveled (importantly the EMD scaling was not a penalty - but the removal of a bonus for EMD's for commercial terms)

How good is the site content? How good are the links? What's your competition?

While redirecting is worth it in certain circumstances, as is porting content...often it isn't and can even do harm to your new domain.
If your content has already been widely scraped and copied then porting it to a new site - well you will just be seen as another new site owner using plagirised content.
301 is a better bet as you can always turn it off quickly.

With the info you've given it's not possible to give a definite answer.

Too bad there's not some kind of nofollow redirect. One that shows you've moved the content but you are disavowing the links.

I doubt your penalty is related to it being an EMD. I have many sites that are EMD that don't have any problems. Try adding your site to google webmaster tools and see if any messages pop up. If it does than you may be able to fix the problem. If it's an issue of your backlinks google also has a disavow tool now. Although I've tried it on one site it's been 3 weeks and I haven't received a reply or had any changes in SERPs yet. My backlinks I disavowed haven't been deleted either though.

The site was about jokes in spanish language. It was ranking for the term "best jokes.com" which has 300k exact match in spanish, the new domain that i own know is a EDM that i wanna rank for "The best pranks", this keyword have near 250k Exact match. As far as i uderstand the oldsite was penalized for the keyword "best jokes", if i 301 to the new EDM, the new keyword/domain(The best pranks.com) is gonna be affected?

Welcome to SEO and Google. I can't tell you how many sites I've had the same problem with when it comes to losing ranking for no apparent reason. All I can tell you is try adding more high quality links and content and if that doesn't help than move on.

Thanks for the replay mate. So there is no way to use the old site content?. I wanna start with the new domain directly but it would be a waste not to use the old site content.

Would it help if i drop down the old domain, wait till google de-index it and copy paste all the content?.
