    Hi all

I am working on a friend's ecommerce website which is a small clothing store. I am finding it a bit challenging to do this. I have looked at the industry leaders like Marks & Spencers and Debenhams. Their websites are mainly high quality images. Text is scarce. Since they are big names, they can do this and still rank! I have always found that if you could write a 1K article, it makes it much easier to rank. However its really not easy to write that much text on the homepage of an e-commerce shop where you are showcasing your best selling products.

Styling her product pages is not easy either. She has 4 main categories of products, however there are at least 10 subtypes of each product with mainly colour being the main difference between the 10. However she has already published 40 separate pages for each of these products. Now writing separate descriptions for products that are only different in colour is painful. Should I just accept that there would be duplicate content within a category for those 10 products?

Have you ever done SEO for an online store selling lot of similar products? Did you follow a specific guide? Thank you
