My Friends went through the hassle of getting merchant accounts so the we wouldn't have to deal with PayPal and its deranged psychotic account freezes and reversals ( even when the buyer doesn't make a dispute). We linked our authorize.net accounts to eBay following its guidelines of providing the login API and transaction key and running a credit card to verify the account. Ebay said "success" "you can now accept credit/debit cards immediately" Next we proceeded to post our listings and were greeted by an error that said we needed a merchant account to accept cards. We checked the site preferences and payment methods not believing out eyes where it said with a green font "Active" " you can now accept debit/credit cards". We called eBay and found out that though it does not say on the site. eBay requires 6 months of merchant account statements faxed to a number that is not listed where your account will be reviewed for a about s week before you can accept credit cards. My other friend w lucky they registered a month ago so they don't have to wait 6 months. There's eBay for you laughing in the face of antitrust laws and pushing gaypal. I can list immediately with gaypal and get a frozen account for sneezing but the merchant account which they have on their site as an acceptable payment option is not an option. I would never accept gaypal.
