    Hey Guys,

The past few days like 3 of the winning bidders on my auctions were Nigerian scams!

    Anybody else facing issues?

Cos one of my friends is facing the same problems.

I was helping my friend sell a PS3 through online auctions, same deal each time. You pretty much cannot sell high ticket electronics and not get a scammer that wins. They bid like several hundred to a thousand.

He listed it three times and each time was the same. It's garbage.

never looked into that one before. is there a way of simply blocking them out or you just have to deal with notification and/or refund manually?

egay doesn't care. You don't have to refund them because you never get the money. They offer to send WU or Moneygram or any way that will make it possible to cheat you out of money and what you are selling.

Ok, I list with Turbo Lister but assume the same options are available regardless. You can block bidders when you list as follows:

In countries to which you do not ship
Bidders with a low feeback score (you can specify)
With 2 or more Unpaid Item Strikes (past 30 days)
Have bid or bought from you in past 10 days (you specify limit)
    Don't have a PP Account
Don't have a credit card on file

You can also remove bids when the auction is in progress.

If you are selling electonics then you need to keep on your toes as, for sure, you will get scammed!

EDIT: Just thought of something else....they may have a UK/US account but ask you to ship to their brother/aunt etc in Africa...don't do it!!

Yeah that's how they play it, they use hacked ebay users for screw up your listings, if you sell a lappie for example and chose the Buy Now option, most likely your listing will be fucked by these nigerians with the same lame " I need this lap shipped to Africa, please my daughter's schools starts next week and I really need it " blah blah.

But that's they way it is, nothing you can do about that , just list again and pray that no guys like that jump into it.

Sorry and haha, egay makes it easy for carders (the niggerians). Go to any underground IRC and all their tut's recommend and are targeted towards egay. Nothing you can do about it; hopefully egay will do something to change this in the future along with new implementation API's for payment processing.

It's been awhile since I sold anything on e bay, so please pardon if this a stupid thing to say, but can't you just require a paypal account for bigger ticket items? My last time was a Harley and I sold it $10,000 plus and required an up front dep.. can't do this no more? And I used to remove bids that were obviously out of range then email the bidder and tell them why.

you can chose to ship locally under buyer requirement.

Even shipping locally you can still get scammed in high ticket items. I had a couple who tried to scam me. but got scammed instead :D

yes I had a nigerrian try to buy my iphone for 800...
they actually even sent me spoofed emails that looked like ebays except the grammar sucked and the reply to was not ebay.
riggght nigeria one of the poorer nations in the world and some dude wants his daughter to have a laptop. I've always wanted to take a trip to that address they give you and blow up their mailbox and steal all their shit. Post the video on youtube, people would go nuts.

yea me too I just filed a dispute, it took ebay awhile to get around to it, but I did eventually get my fees back. For me the guy never paid though. Also he wanted it shipped to a non paypal confirmed address. In the dispute tab you can put that the buyer wants it shipped to non paypal confirmed.

It's been the other way for me. The last few days I have won about 20 domain name auctions. I paid. The next day ebay/paypal emails me saying the auction has been removed, but I haven't got my money back. I also can't go look at the listing again because they removed it. My guess is someone was selling domain names they didn't own.
