I think this is maybe also interesting for here:

Ebay France today has been convicted to pay 40 millions Euro penalty to the LVMH Group (Louis Vuitton Malletier) (19.28 millions Euro), to Christian Dior, which also belongs to LVMH, 17.3 millions Euro. To the perfume brands Christian Dior, Kenzo, Givenchy and Guerlain 3.25 millions Euro. This is 20 per cent of the annual profit.

Interesting for here, as especially the luxory goods are so interesting for bh ebay promotions. And now probably ebay takes a more closer look on such high price auctions what means to be more careful with setting up such auctions.

Yeah its about the replicas. The companies say that ebay does not do enough to stop the replicas being sold.

Back in the day when I was a newbie, I sold some replicas quite big time and made around $14,000 net profit

No wonder these companies are getting pissed off!

sorry, I forgot to write. Yes, it is because of the replicas. And I additional read that brands in other countries also started complaining against ebay. So I can imagine, especially when you are using brand goods for promotions like c*ookie st*uffing the chances a pretty big to get some reviews done by humans.

It's not unethical at all to allow replica goods to be sold on your site while claiming your service acts accordingly in almost every way.
</sarcasm>

I'd rather see it go to someone else vs. french fashion but finally some justice for the tyrannical overlords of hypocrisy.

I know on ebay there are many scams, I was looking to buy an antique auto and received some emails for redicusouly awesome deals wanting half the money sent to secure the auto. For example I was offerd a 80,000 auto for 5 grand. Like I didn't see that. Had the same offer on 2 instances then about an hr. later the product was no longer listed or found on ebay. So Beware no matter what country you live in scammers are every where. Glad to see some action being taken against scammers. Black Hat should be about marketing and manipulateing SEO rankings, not scams or phalse claims. Things like this make it hard for us and everyone online to turn a profit.
Just my 2 cents.

its not just replicas that are being sold. there's a lot of companies that don't want AUTHENTIC merchandise to be sold.
they say ebay is a junkyard, and having their merchandise sold on ebay lowers the depiction of their merchandise quality.
if you are selling a used one, they let it pass, but new items get shut down.

That just says enough about the reputation E-Bay "aquired" over the years.
There's a lot of scamming going on on Ebay and here's the funny thing.
If you own a bar and there are criminal activities going on (drugdeals, selling stolen goods, scams to get people's money) you are shut down.
Now here's Ebay and the only thing they say we are not responsible. They ban the offender but it's easy to get a new account and they start again.

Guess as a big company online you can get away with a lot more than small entrepeneurs can in the offline world.

Yeah ebays repuation has certainly faltered over recent times. Back in the day, there were not many large scams on ebay but nowdays, there are so many scams.

Ebay got sued by these companies and now they have to take some action. Personally I think they will crack down in the near future but long term they will be less strict.

These companies are keeping strict tabs on ebay at the moment but we'll see what happens in the future.

Who cares. They owe it to Louis Vuitton for the bajillion replicas that will continue to be sold. They should just do what napster did with the music industry and cut them a check. Plus, e-bay sucks in bajillions of dollars, that 40 mill came out of the pocket change of their little pocket.
