Step 1 - Visit internet marketing forum(s) (you should know the main cash cow by now, but I won't name it)
Step 2 - Pay attention and learn what the hottest topics are (try to identify a reoccurring problem if possible)
Step 3 - Learn as much as you can about at least one of these topics (doesn't have to be a money making method per se, it can be like SEO, how to set up an autoblog, etc)
Step 4 - Join Internet Marketing Forum(s) that you identified in step 1
Step 5 - Become involved in the forum, post (especially in threads about the topic that you are now an expert in) and interact with others
    Step 6 - Write a 10,000 word e-book on the topic
Step 7 - Write sales copy for the ad you're going to place on the internet marketing forums (learning as much as you can about the fine art of copywriting will go a loooooooooonnnnnnnnng way in your success)
    Step 8 - Sell your e-book
Step 9 - Repeat process again and again, leveraging your success into bigger and bigger paydays (it helps if you build a list of these buyers so you can send out a blast when your new products go on sale, with a link to where the ad is... it's super easy to sell to someone that's already bought from you and loves your stuff)

If you have any idea at all as to what is going on in the world of internet marketing and these forums, then you should be able to make a couple grand in a few days with this method. I've done it many times, and I'm sure a lot of other people here have too.

I can write a 10,000 word e-book and the copy for it in under a day, your mileage may vary, and of course there is no guarantee (even though you pretty much have to be totally clueless for it not to work).

We all know that the average person that reads this post is just going to think "eh, it might work", think about it for a day or two and then move on to the next shiny object. No action equals no results. Don't be average. Average people rarely achieve great success.

For added effect, buddy up with the established forum "experts/gurus" in the niche you chose and try to leverage that. (Send them free review copies, buy their products and tell them how great they are, etc... you know the deal)

Social proof also goes a long way, so if you can master that you'll be in excellent shape in no time.

You can use the money that you earn from pimpin' internet marketing forums to invest in other projects, use it to buy some established sites with monthly income streams, etc. Or, you could just make a career out of pimping internet marketing forums (build that list baby!).

Oh, and I forgot... put out a product that's halfway decent. Obviously if you can wow them, that would be ideal, but you can still make a decent amount of money with products that are just slightly better than the next guy's products.

(Super hint: See what else is already selling like hotcakes and ride the coat tails of those products. Usually when someone puts out a really popular product, everyone gets all excited about that particular topic and they start devouring anything they can get their credit cards on... this is where you capitalize.)

ElusiveHat's six word summary: Fake it til you make it.

Oh, and it's ok if you fall flat on your face the first time(s). Learn from your mistakes, create a new pen name and try again! Just be cool with people, don't rip anyone off and believe in yourself.

Well in most cases you create an "illusion" of an expert.... for the sake of the argument most of the "im gurus" out there know no more (and most likely less) than most people who have been lurking around this forum for a while... the only difference is that they're much better at copy writing (in most cases REwriting) and take action!

Exactly, hence the "fake it til you make it" line. Good copy writing does go a long way though.

(Hint: If you use the "secret" angle and don't give away too much in your copy and your product is halfway decent, you'll pull in some good bank in a matter of days.)

too much work for me - easier to outsource or "rewrite" an older guide on a topic that is popular again and give some it some snazzy new name, update a few screenshots, get a nice professional ebook cover design = done and sell..........

ok more investment and little less profits - but way less effort needed and possible to churn out more ebooks if you find some good affordable rewriters ;)

I never understood the post count intelligence quota, where if you have made few posts you're a dumbass who has trouble holding a pen the right way up and if you've posted all over the forum about random rubbish you're a guru. Verbosity does not equal business acumen. Nice to hear that you're doing ok, maybe you can share some of your experiences with the forum at some point.

Back on topic, to be an expert, you just have to know a bit more about your chosen topic than the last majority of your audience, then be able to articulate it. That's all. So this is a perfectly workable method, and you'll learn a lot in the process.

No real need for that. This is a forum for colloboration where less experienced people can learn from those who are more successful. Everyone (well 95%) of people have something valuable to contribute at some stage, so why don't you share some of your wisdom of making "$100 in 10 minutes" instead of bashing.

At OP - nicely worked out method, I'd rather sell to non-tech savvy people though, much less hassle!

Excellent method/advice for newer members who are just getting their feet wet in the IM game. One thing I'll add is for people to look at the big picture and use some of the things the OP mentioned in all of your IM ventures. Whether tweaking someone else's methods/products or creating your own from scratch, the things being mentioned about building reputation are key.

If you create your own unique products, it can be build into some really solid longterm income if done right.
