Hi all, I have an exact match domain with not a lot of exact match searches, 260 global, 170 local. I don't actually sell the animal, so I'm a little unsure what to do with this domain as I've never done anything with animals. It's a short domain, self-explanatory, obviously what you're looking for if you're searching the subject. So I'm curious - I'm going to set up some WordPress theme on this and see what I can do, but does anyone here have ANY ideas? I'm assuming product reviews with affiliate links to places like Amazon for products related to the animal, but people coming to the site are also looking to buy one - so I'm not sure how to cover or monetize or offer that. Thanks for any thoughts! Sorry if this is the wrong forum!
If your strategy is SEO, with that many searches, you should really just let the domain drop and go work on something else. You aren't going to get rich ranking for a 260 search a month keyword!
Thanks for your reply! I don't really know a lot about SEO. ;-) And I'm not the best at finding profitable domain names obviously, haha. I don't set things on autopilot, though. I'm a college student, I like spending a few dollars for a .com and developing it over the course of a year, doing what I can for it and if I can make at least a couple hundred dollars, that's great. I only have three other sites I update a couple times a week now, so I'm looking for a new project...
But if your site is already in top, without any work, you are getting traffic, you can put some adsense just extra bucks, some thing is better then nothing . Or simply putt affliate on that something related to Animals, like dog caring books, dog foods, etc.
Exotic pets niche can actually make you a good bit of money as there are tons of people who buy them (All ages). I had a bearded dragon a while back which cost me a bomb so i know how much those guys can make. But as said above by meathead1234 , A 260 Monthly search keyword is not going to make you lots. You would need to target larger demographics i.e Higher competition keywords. As for monetising your site there is Amazon , Ebay , Clickbank (How to look after your pet , Breeding etc) or the other option would be to approach one of the larger direct exotic pet retailers in Google and try to partner with them so when you get a sale you will get a cut direct from the retailer. PPC would probably be a good option also Good luck !
oh man .. you missed out on the exotic pet crap going on in Ohio ... capitalize on stuff like that to drive people to your site ... this will be a big thing in the US for some time so grab the stories off the net and piggyback articles etc to your links. JQ
