Can someone explain to me exactly how you turn blogging into cash. Is is links back to your site, affiliate links, what exactly makes it profitable? I have been reading the posts, etc. and am starting to get the picture, but I am just looking for this piece of the puzzle.

??? i'm not quite sure what this means...anyways, blogging can be used to make money in a variety of ways. you just need to drive targeted traffic to your blogs. and you need to monetize the blogs. you can use affiliate offers, your own products, banners, etc.

I started a poker blog, with the intention of sending players to poker rooms for CPA, but instead, as I started writing more and more content, I was able to sell over $7k worth of ad space on it. starting only 6 months after it started. there is only about 100 posts on it.

Whatever niche your site is, find a forum of webmasters of similar sites, and check if they have a buy/sell ad space section.

Best monetization model for blog is writing articles for EzineArticles.c0m. If you are good you'll get decent traffic and than you can do whatever you want with it.
    So, CONTENT IS KING

Have your site content very targeted and SEO'd for good, simple search terms that work well with your domain name. Of course along with your content and ref links to your sponsor, whatever niche that may be.

PayPerPost.com is probably the easiest way to earn money from your blog. O.k, you might have to go off topic a little when writing reviews about different products.

All I did was create a brand new blog, updated it with random reviews and free articles for a month and a half, and my blog was finally accepted. If you use a handful of ppp networks you can pull in $500+ a month

Google generally will rank new sites up high because it is 'fresh' content and they view this as relevant. Just listen to the others telliing you that content is king as this is true. Keep posting, keep your posts relevant, and the rest will fall into place. To get backlinks, you can trade links, use some sort of social bookmarking service such as digg or stumbleupon, or submit to directories among other ideas (such as submitting articles to article directories as already listed).

    Thanks for your advice shylesson

but regarding relevancy i am following pro*ject qu*ick ca*sh method so i will be posting on different topics. what do you suggest for that i use news sources from google*com/trends and rewrite them using wordflood.
Will web directories accept blogspot.com blogs if submitted.

You want to create multiple streams of income. You don't have to rely on just one. Google Adsense, eZine ads, Text Link Ads, selling eBooks/products, Affiliate programs, selling Blogroll links, etc. Do one of them or do them all. I suggest not cutting yourself short, and do them all.
