e-mailing potential affiliates

Hey,

I have a couple of e-books which I'm wanting more affiliates for. I'm looking at e-mailing a bunch of blogs (mainly) and sites which i come across that have information related to my ebooks and see if they would be interested in becoming an affiliate.

I was wondering if anyone else has had success with this and if so, what do you say in your e-mails to generate a high interest? As i know a lot of people will read the first line of the e-mail, realise you're trying to sell/make them do something, and stop reading.
