Hello guys i made a deal with someone to add his half article on my site and then to provide a link to his website to read the rest article.

Does this count as duplicent content in google's eyes?

Such a big concern for you, isnt it? You do know that some of the most trusted sites in the world are just duplicated content?

Excerpts are fine; however, half an article seems like an awful large quote. I suggest cutting it down to no more than two paragraphs if you want to play it safe.

I would just make a 250 word post about his topic, like an introduction, and then add the to read more bit to the end. No duplicant content, decent post length. :)

If you copy the whole article, then yes it will be duplicate content.

How bad is it for it to be a complete duplicate? I have around a 500 word article on one of my sites thats duplicate but with the keywords changed. Is that bad?
