Duplicate Content on Ecommerce Sites....What is the Deal these days?

    Hi

I've put this in the Lounge as I couldn't create a thread anywhere else, for some reason.

Anyway, I have just installed a datafeed into my site, yes there is duplicate content, so I looked at which sites have the same....See here for the Gsearch results

There are quite a few with exactly the same content. Now, I'm going to spin and hide the content behind an image of some 'nice' content I'll scrap from the manufacturer, so I just have unique content even though it isn't exactly readable. This is a test for future projects, not particularly looking to make money from it or I'd have product descriptions written by real people.

But, I wanted to know what the deal is with duplicate content, the above sites in the Gsearch results are ranking, position one is Mens Health, which is a big UK magazine/online magazine. The rest look like they used to have the content on their sites but have since been removed for something else. This sort of means I just need my content to be unique compared to Mens Health, correct? Does their authoritativeness help them rank top despite it being content ripped from a feed?

Also, which tool can spin 450k words from one txt/Word document? WordAi limits 3,500 words from one txt file. I've tried SpinnerChief but the results were 95% similar to the original content. Can TBS do this?

Please use the Google Keyword Planner to see how many searches per month your search query is getting. - if you are confused - use the one in the image that you have pinned. LOL

That doesn't help in the slightest. Please read my original post. I'm not asking for the monthly searches, I'm talking about duplicate content from a section of copy and pasted product description. The amount of searches is irrelevant.

the solution is really simple, just don't try to rank it
use traffic from social to make sale
ranking ecommerce site is just pain in the ass

Thanks @White Night - I appreciate that, but I do Ecommerce SEO for clients and have had incredible success. True, it's a lot of work and a pain in the ass as you rightly pointed out but maybe I'm a sucker for hard work. What I'm lacking is the ability to churn out ecommerce sites quickly. I have done keyword research for 8 sites, have datafeeds ready, don't have any design set up on the sites though, and just need to nail the content side of things. If I can rank this test site with spun content then I should be golden going forward and can just replace the content with handwritten stuff down the line.
