    Hello to all,

I have accounts on several different directories here in the UK. The wording I use in the directories is all the same so that I can have some continuity in my message.

Would this be considered 'duplicate content' and hurt my rankings for that particular directory if somebody found it as part of an oganic search? By that I mean.....If my business selling beer making kit and somebody typed beer making kit into Google, would my listing in the directories be listed lower in the SERPS because my message in the same in every directory.

    I hope this makes sense......

    Thanks for the help!
    Dave

What will happen eventually is Google will pick one of those directory pages that have your description and rank that one while burring the rest deep in the serps. If they all say the same thing, why would Google rank them all?

It's duplicate content if you are posting the same article to many places.

By doing that (if that is what you are doing) you're pretty much wasting all that content.

I would firstly post it to your site, then re-write it for each individual article directory that you are posting it to. That way you will not only be getting more onsite content you will also be generating more off site content that has value.
