I have a niche site that i noticed can do well in another country. i wanted to know if i can copy and paste my site and translate to the other language. I do not think this will be duplicate content but i still would like to know.

I have a blog network 37 blogs (laptops amazon) before panda they had a dublicated content, after panda has ban them I added some content stolen from DE and FR sites and translated to english, blogs returned on theirs positions (90% of them) so I think it's all fine if you translate.

i know a lot of blogs who translate english articles from techcrunh and mashable to their place language and all's good they has a lot of fans and great positions))

yea, i was basically going to translate some of my sites from english to another language. I already have good content written so i did not want to translate then have to re write them at the same time

This is a very interesting concept. I was actually thinking about something along these lines earlier today. Scrape content from sites with other languages and parse them through a translating software. You could potentially make an exact mirror of a forum or but in a different language using this method. Genius!

hmmm you just gave me an idea....

What about from a country where Google doesn't have as much power I bet Baidu has a lot of content that Google doesnt even get access to.

Scraping content in relevent categories from Baidu then translating to English for use over here.

There is some food for thought. If you were going to do it like @ methodic1 suggested I think a language that is better "translate friendly" would be more effective.

In translation process always some changes will be made in meaning of some words, phrases etc. Imagine if gg would really compare duplicate content for many languages at the same time, how much processing power they would need? Also i noticed that many pages have good ranking with google translated pages so the same page is translated like for 50 languages and they are in gg index so i don't think it compares at all
