I am going to be creating some niche related web 2.0 to be used for backlinks. As I will be making these blogs seem 'real' I will need to bulk them out with a few articles that dont contain links. As I dont have the funds to order 100's of articles to use on them, do you guys think it would be safe to use PLR articles instead?

Obv. I will be using unique article when it come to backlinking so there wont be a dup content issue with those, but if the rest of the blog has dup content, will it affect my backlinks?

Eh, I never trust or use anything that is on the net already.

Not saying it will kill you, but it certainly won't help.

You can always just add a process to come back to your content, and re-write it later, at least you will have something online to get started with.

I mean that I am setting up some web2.0 sites to be used for backlinks to my main site. To make them seem more like real, non spammy blogs, I am posting a few articles on them without any backlinks.

I see what your saying, im no seo master by any means nor do I know a whole lot about it but here is my take on it.... the duplicate content will hurt whatever site it is on. So if you have 5 blogs with lets just say the same articles on all of them then those sites will just be low quality sites, I imagine this would hurt their page rank. So in the end you will just end up with a bunch of low PR backlinks. The thing I think you should be asking yourself is how relevant are backlinks now a days? maybe you should focus more on sites with good unique content and or social bookmarks maybe? idk like I said I dont know a lot about seo but people seem to be talking all about social book marks right now.

Why don't you just take ten minutes and spin those articles and check it in copyscape. To easy. Or take articles from other sites and give them credit for thier article. There are people that are only doing this for thier backlinks and it is effective. Making their own article and syndicating it to other webpages for backlinks. Its not duplicated if you syndicate it with an author..

It probably won't hurt, but it probably won't help. Here's what I'd do. Get a content generator (see items for sale) and then tweak the auto-generated content till it's sounds good enough you can say your 10 year old kid wrote it then bury it and hope Matt Cutts never comes across your faux-site.

Some good answers :) Thanks guys. Just so you guys know, the PLR articles I talked about would be 1 article posted per web.20 (so none of the web2.0s wont have any of the same content). The only dup content would be, 1 or 2 articles per web 2.0 would be a PLR article, so these articles may have been used elsewhere. The rest of the content on them would be hand spun, readable articles with backlinks to my sites

Again, If you don't spin it to a certain percentage it will be counted as duplicate content. Are you trying to get someone to say it is OK? Nobody will do this unless it is a newbie and they are spitting out rubbish. Use copyscape to see if the article has been used. If it is a PLR it probably has been used and abused like a vietnam hooker in "The Vietnam War" It is simple to spin a plr for one article. You could have done it already.. Not trying to be mean but this is reality..

I fully understand where you are coming from, but I am just trying to find out the affects of dup content on the same site/blog as original content containing my backlinks.

Lets put this into simpler terms. Does google devalue links from unique articles on a site that also contains 1-2 dup content articles.

I am trying to find a way to easily put niche related articles on over 200 web2s per niche, just to fill the blogs out a little so they look more natural (instead of every blog post containing backlinks). I want each property to have different articles so if google decides to check out my backlinks, they dont think 'wait..every one of these blogs linking to him has the same content/subjects'
