Hey, what are your views on legalizing drugs in America? Poland has made the first big step by taking away all disciplinary actions towards the use of drugs (hard and not really a drug marijuana). They have not seen any incline in the supply or demand of drugs, and the amount of hard core users has actually gone down  Let me know what you think about this, it was on my mind since the poll's for Prop 19 were 4% off ahhhhh

Throwing people in cages for victimless crimes, is beyond absurd. No victim, no crime.

Not to mention the "war on drugs" creates a dangerous black market, just like alcohol prohibition did. When there is demand for something, and you make the supply of that demand illegal, you've just created a black market where business ethics go out the window.

Great point. Instead of limiting (and controlling), just let them sell it under the sleeve with all the guns and stuff. If there was only a way to convince a government that people will find a way, like it or not.

The state does not want to grant any freedoms it doesn't absolutely have to, so we see with drugs that the wishes of the 20% are ignored because the establishment 20% are rabidly opposed and the middle 60% figures it's best to go with the establishment.

The state should not have the power to control what kind of plant you grow or smoke, when enough people realize that we will all be better off.

I think drugs should be legalized for use with heavier penalties for drug induced crimes. Its not my job nor the governments job to decide what we do with other peoples bodies.

Certain drugs should be legal. Weed for sure. Painkillers for sure, but not the higher dosages.

Anything else I could care less about.

Oh, except promethazine. Lean needs to be legal as well.

Weed is so much less addictive and dangerous than alcohol.

In california, usa, voters did not approve a proposition that would have made pot legal in that state for recreational use, although it would still be federally illegal. It is currently legal in california with a medical prescription.

At the very least they need to be decriminalized.

I could go for drugs like weed, acid, and MDMA being legal but not so much on meth, crack, and heroin.

At the very least weed needs to be legalized. It is pure insanity that weed is illegal but tobacco and alcohol aren't.

I totally agree with you. Weed should be legal but I think coke and heroin should definetly be illegal because you can OD on those on your first time.

Not all drugs are victimless. I do agree that soft drugs are victimless, but hard drugs are definitely not. People become addicted and they need to feed that addiction. The way many addicts do this is to rob/steal from others. Please don't say that drug use is a victimless crime.

I feel if the drug doesn't harm society than it should be legal right?

Alcohol cocaine and amphetamines should definitely be illegal.

Drugs like marijuana, ecstasy, LSD should all be legal because they don't harm society jsut like cigarettes. However if the government can find a way to tax it and make money off it they are going to make it legal.

well its simple, why drugs won't be legalized, because the government can't find a right way to tax it, so u would have people making profit off cocain and other drugs and no real way to tax people who are in that business prime example.

Cigarettes kill 1000's of people each year, and it's laced with all sorts of stuff Ammonia etc
however, the government can tax the Tabacco companies for the sale of cigs so it doesn't come down to a moral thing, it comes down to money how much money and taxes can we get out of the deal.

Ok, I just had to jump in this thread. I'm one of the biggest advocates of legalizing marijuana for several different reasons:

    1) It's absolutely not addictive

    2) It turns crazy people (alcoholics included) into well rounded members of society

    3) It increases brain function

    4) It's being found to cure more and more diseases every day, aside from the already commonly well known cures such as glaucoma and Parkinson's (new recent studies show that canbanoids have been shown to help breast cancer and has already been found effective against many other types of cancers)

    5) Going along with point #4, cannabis is without a doubt the best pain killer in the world with no side effects, it is also great for upset stomach, as well as menstral cramps. Basically anything you can throw at marijuana, it can help.

    6) It does not in any way make you lazy. If you have something to do, you can sure as hell get it done while fried.

    7) The black market marijuana has created is stupid.

    8) Marijuana has killed 0 people since the beginning of recorded history.

    9) The studies the government did in efforts to get cannabis outlawed were bull sh!t. Find me a study, I'll show you what was wrong with it. The most popular study was one involving monkeys, where they were forcibly given 600 joints through a gas mask in approximately an hour. After a month, the monkeys were brain dead. I'm fairly confident I'd be brain dead after not having any oxygen too.

I can go on and on about why pot should be legal, but let me give you a few points about why it will never be in our current state.

    1) In 1997, 5.6% of state prison inmates were there for marijuana possession. In modern times, a good 50% of prisons are privately owned, which means the more prisoners, the more money these private investors make. 5.6% would be a substantial loss.

    2) The "War on Drugs" costs billions annually, and employs thousands of people. The main focus of these state and federal employees is marijuana.

    3) There is no way the government could tax marijuana. It is far too easily grown.

    4) Hemp would crater the timber industry. Hemp is the strongest and most resilient material on the planet, and far faster growing than trees (hence the name "weed").

    5) Hemp can be used as an alternative energy source. Similar to corn, hemp can be used to produce a renewable energy source called ethanol. Not only does hemp grow much faster than corn, the carbon produced by burning it would be offset by growing it. It's the green energy source. But why is this under why marijuana won't be legalize? Hemp ethanol would crater the oil industry, destroying a multi-billion dollar industry. It's all about the money.

    6) (THEORY) This is by no means proven, but how do you think the drug lords stay in power? I believe the government profits off the black market in a similar way that it profits off the white market. Consider the price of a gram of hydroponic marijuana. $25 per gram is a fairly reasonable price. A pound straight from the supplier costs around $2000 per pound. Considering anyone with a back yard or basement can grow this, $2000 is a highly inflated price to pay for your bud. No one wants marijuana legalized, not the government, not the growers, and not the dealers. They all profit from this black market, and legalization would leave them penniless.

There are many reasons marijuana is still illegal, but the biggest reason, even greater than money, is the inactivity of people like us. If you really think pot should be legal, do your research, learn all you can about marijuana. Find case studies of the medical benefits, find research about how it stimulates brain growth, learn it all. And then don't keep to yourself, speak up about it! Start a petition, send a letter to your senator, or just tell everyone you know. IGNORANCE is the reason pot is illegal. The government will keep it illegal so long as no one knows a damn thing about marijuana. And trust me, no one does. Don't be ignorant, if you want to speak about how marijuana should be illegal, at least do your research on the subject. Chances are, if you think it should be illegal, then you're part of the ignorant mass. Take action, nothing will ever happen without it.

Well, there are advantages and disadvantages to that. I think if it is legalized, it will be freely available to everybody but there will be increase in crime committed under the influence of drugs.

I respectfully disagree with you. Marijuana are any drug that is legalized doesn't mean that every tom dick and harry will do them.. i have a question, do you do drugs? if not, would you start doing drugs if they became legal?

Even if the drugs are in every 7/11 doesn't mean people will start doing something that they never done. You think a person that hasn't touched a cig in their life will just walk in and say "I Think i'm going to start smoking, let get a pack of reds please sir"

i never known of anyone to smoke a joint then go rob a store.. They may go and rob an all you can eat bar, but that's about it.
