    One thing is for sure:

"Uruguay is going to have a big flux of visitors next year for the sole purpose of smoking in peace".

A lot of money coming in.

you take a country like greece or spain, with absolutely no money, if they took the initiative to legalise marijuana, they would be rich by now

It's entirely possibly the druggies going there may far outweigh the regular tourists that would be put off..

Nothing wrong with legalizing marijuhanna. Illegalizing it is the crime. I personally don't smoke, used to smoke 3-4 times a year. But seriously... Everyone who honestly and truly believes that marijuhanna is a dangerous or so called 'gateway' drug has been brainwashed.
I personally think that this legalization is going to be a blessing for your country, bro.

It's not "drugs"... there's a big difference between marijuana and drugs. do u call alcohol drugs generally? (yes, i understand it's a drug, so is tobacco and everything u take in the pharmacy)

We could see the effects within a span of 2 years. Like some people said tourism might be one.

It will be illegal for tourists to smoke weed in Uruguay still, only legal for citizens.

Weed has been legal (well not really legal but people are allowed to smoke and buy weed, it is not allowed to buy weed in bulk) in Holland for years now and we have no more druggies than other countries, we do have a lot of unwanted drugs tourism in the border area's.

So what ... What are they going to base they're charges on? Do they have a law explicit for foreigners?

Looks like the drug lords in that country weren't that strong. The government is stealing their monopoly :D

Hopefully other countries will follow suit and it will mark the beginning of the end for America's ludicrous "War on Drugs". An ideological crusade which has been failing spectacularly for the last century.

Actually no, it hasn't been failing at all. It really just depends on your point of view. See, if you're a citizen who enjoys smoking a joint every once in a while, then yes, you're pretty much screwed and probably can't understand these strict laws against marijuanna, especially since it's very well known for its medical benefits. But if you're one of the corporate big shots who were involved in making incarceration a business in the US, then the illegalization of marijuanna combined with the utterly ridiculous and moronic 3-strikes rule is the best thing that could've ever happened to you.
