Dropshipping Journey to $100 per Day (COMPLETED 10/02/2019)

i spent a year working on a dropshipping store that ultimately failed. it wasn't a year of consistent and steady work. more like 1 month or so of total time when it came to setting up the site and social media. took me like 6 months though since i was procrastinating a lot. past 3 months i spent all my free time advertising the store. literally did everything. ig shout outs, facebook ads, reddit ads, forum links, pinterest ads. tried everything, but nothing worked

spent about $700 on everything and made $0 in sales. wasn't able to sell a single product. finally i am throwing in the towel. worked very hard on the site to get it to look premium, bought a $60 theme for it too. simply could not bring any sales to the site. i think now is the time to finally cut off the site. tired of not seeing any traffic and no order notifications. gave a lot to that site, got nothing in return. i removed it from my bookmarks, removed it from my phone. the site is still up but i will cancel the store in a week or so when the subscription gets towards the deadline. as for all the work i've done on it: i will leave the files tucked away on my computer and will soon forget about this, just another failed project to the list

anyway. now that i've rid myself of the site, i can focus clearly on what to do next. i plan to spend the next week or so studying. yes, i'm not going to make any stores, select any products or anything. i'm literally going to just watch youtube videos and consume as much content as i can. i plan to start here

my goal right now is to just learn. cause frankly, i don't know shit. i spent $700 daydreaming to how i would like things to go. my store wasn't "proven" to work. a "proven" store would be something standard like upselling cheap aliexpress products and using facebook ads. i wanted to build a brand, make a company. but it failed in the end, because i just couldn't get the traffic and the interest from customers. i have a lot to learn. i truly know jack shit about marketing and how to get people to buy. so i will spend my time learning

once i've learned as much as i can, i will know what to do next. the first step for me though is learning, understanding what works, and then forming a direction. following exactly what i've learned, step by step. i don't care if i have to do gimmick methods like free + shipping. i will do anything. my ego is completely aside. all i want is a profitable store. i will do what it takes, i will sell and market whatever way that will get me the results. i want to see success with this. i've worked so hard already. i should be able to do it, i am an intelligent person with a high level educational degree. i'm obviously smart enough to succeed and i have available income for this. i really see no reason why i can't make dropshipping and marketing work for me

i will log my progress here when i can. for now, i will be learning. i'm not thinking about profit, making $100 a day, making a company, or any of that. all i'm thinking about right now is: learning, and just getting good at this

this will be my 3rd dropshipping venture, my first store i made some money but still at a loss due to ads. 2nd store was my last one, massive $700 fail. i really want this 3rd one to be it. let's hope so

I too fail my way to success, learning is definitely important when you get to a point you start asking yourself questions you don't know or you think you know you can answer.

watched a shit load of content today. will be watching more tomorrow. i had an idea of what niche to enter, but realized that it's shit. so still thinking about what to do. one product store or niche store with like 15-20 products. have been watching wholesale ted and gabriel-T. both have different styles on selecting products and ads. still lots to learn

Hey... Don't give up on this site. You can turn it around. You have already done the hard work in building the site.

If your are advertising and not getting sales, either your are not targeting the right audience, the site is not looking trustworthy (if your can, pm me you site and I will give you my thoughts) or maybe the product pricing is wrong, but this seems unlikely.

But dontt give up on this site!

Good luck and keep your positive attitude. It's always better to do a general store initially with shit of products loaded. Once you find the interest of your customer through this general store, you can go for niche specific/one product store. The chance of people surfing your store will be high in general stores rather than one product store. Just my 2 cents...

Just start a store right now. Don't waste time on learning. You can start with 1 dollar.

1. Join the Shopify Partner Program. You can create unlimited development stores and don't need to pay until 50 sales.

2. Buy a 99 cent .com domain with a promo code from GoDaddy and connect it with your Shopify store.

3. Start your dropshipping journey and Google whatever you don't understand.

Don't pay for any ads at the start. If you can get sales from free advertising from social media (Instagram, Reddit, etc.), you know you are on the right track.

And yes, you failed on your first store...and your second...and maybe your third.

But I think you have learned a lot from your failure

Good luck! Hope you reach the goal. Additionally, I don't suggest reddit ads, If you wanna invest money on reddit, than the better way would be to buy the already established subreddits in your niche and then subtly start marketing your products there.

All you need is consistency, to keep on trying again and again and i am pretty sure you will succeed in the end !

I remember i worked for 2 fucking years (offline business) every day and i couldn't make any real profit from my business. My family was supporting me for my daily expenses (food, rent, pocket money). Very tough days indeed. I thought about quitting everyday and getting a 9-5 job so at least i could support myself.

Now, after 5 years, when i look back i THANK GOD for now quitting ! Business is doing good and i am planning to expand it more (online also, this is why i am on bhw)

All i learned during this period is that you have to try hard and never get depressed about now getting sales. Bro i got 6 pallets (4320 same products ) as my first order and i couldn't even sell 10 pieces in total for the first 3 months! I mean i was kindda fucked up !

I tried different methods, advertising, discounts, free products everywhere and still nothing !!!! I was convinced that the product was high quality but i couldn't figure out why i was not making sales. After 2 years of experiments thank God i did it !!

This is my advice to you:

If you have money don't stop right now. It is the perfect time not to stop. Open another store. Forget the online tutorials. You can get the best experience by practicing it yourself not by listening to some fake gurus on internet. You have BHW here and a great community that will help you out.

thanks for the support everyone. watched like 4 hours straight of content today. time literally just flies. watching all these videos and absorbing everything i can and making sure i'm following it. i'm getting ready to execute soon. i've been watching gabriel st-germain. deciding i'm going to create a one product store. i have the product in mind. i'm not sure how stable of a business model this is, creating a 1 product store and advertising it. seems like it will stop profiting after like a year and then i would need a new site. but fuck it, i will try it

i see so many facebook dropship ads on my feed that are successful because they "solve a problem". i don't know why, but apparently "problem solving" items are the big thing right now. so i found my "problem solver" and now will be advertising it with facebook ads. creating the site, making it look professional and all that stuff is easy mode. i already can do that. the facebook advertising will be the tough part. i took some notes on paper after watching a facebook ads tutorial. i understand the progression: create a video ad targeting super board audience using a PPE campaign. then creating a LLA audience of people who watched 95% of the video. thankfully the supplier on aliexpress already has a video on the product page, i'll be using that. otherwise i'd have to make my own video from pictures, or order the product and pay someone to make it.

once i have my LLA audience i can then run ads targeting specific countries. then i can run 1 interest ad sets too. at that point i would hope i've made some sales? then i will continue from there to optimize. i expect to put down at least $100 in ads up to this point. if no sales at all here then i may have to just quit or re-evaluate. maybe would spend another $100 on ads and if still nothing profitable then will quit and try something else

going to get started on site creation now, watching one more vid on CBO for facebook ads and also re-watching part of this facebook ads video to make sure i understand what's suppose to be happening

if i can't make it large doing this when others can that i will be dumbfounded. i am a very intelligent person and good at understanding concepts and processes, should be able to do this

EDIT: if this one product store fails, i have another niche in mind. standard method of putting up 15-20 products in a passionate niche and running ads to the "wow" products. only reason i'm not doing this idea now is because i don't quite have a facebook ads game plan for this. i would just make ads for 1-2 products and target 2 interests per ad set and hope i get sales lol. and if i don't get sales then test a few more products, still no sales, then give up and try another site? basically that's where i see that site going

so yeah, trying this one product store first, maybe it can work and my business model will be: create one product stores every 3 months and make money from them before they eventually die out and disintegrate in the dust. because how can someone keep a one product store as a lifelong business? i have no idea

i must say that i'm really impressing myself with my website design abilities. i have a premium $60 theme thanks to my last venture so i'm using it for this store. within 30-40 minutes i already have an awesome home page image. used photoshop to make some simple edits and made adjustments in shopify. my branding is on point. the product name sounds a bit silly but it's all apart of branding. i've also created a slogan off the fly and using it on my home page lol. so yeah, i have a decent grasp on website design. can whip up decent looking and trustworthy sites quickly. my real struggle is with marketing and advertising though. once i get to the facebook ads that's when the real pain will begin

Maybe you should start a web design agency instead of a dropshipping store

site almost done... takes forever to do EVERYTHING.... web design, product page, setting up e-mail, home page, footer, colors, typography, checkout, widgets...

takes so long. the site is starting to look like a typical 1 product dropship store. i take a look at some example stores that are making money, mine doesn't look much different. added the hurrify countdown timers, all that crap. will add upsell app and other apps as soon as i start making sales. i want to get the basics on this thing done so it's functional and jump right into ads ASAP.

ads will be the real pain in the ass so i want to get there right now. while still making a presentable store that is capable of selling. goal is to start up ads tomorrow. video ad is already edited. don't have enough clips to make 3 different video ads to test. so i will be going in with 1 ad, fuck it. if i fail i will try to improve it. give like a month OR two of effort. if i still fail then fuck it, onto the next. invested like $20 or something so far, chump change

let's get that money

side note: spent too much time thinking about the future. bad habit of mine, to get ahead of myself. thinking of how i could scale this 1 product store or how i could branch out. no idea if it's possible or how i would do it. really stupid to think that far out too, i have no idea what will work and what is just me mentally masturbating to the longevity of it. goal number 1 is: make some fuckin sales with this product. i can easily do 1k per day in revenue with this shit. and keep that up at least 3 months consistently. that's should be a few 10k in profits right there. at that point i'll figure out what the fuck to do. maybe watch some more youtube vids. if this money train crashes after a year due to ad fatigue or some other nonsense, so be it, i will just watch more vids and figure out what to do next until i have something stable
