    I don't get it.

So after doing a very minimal amount of work on one of my many MNSites I landed on the #9 spot on page one for it's main keyword.

I decided to do several things to try and bump it up to top 5...So this is what I did:

I did some internal linking with some easy to use WP plugins
Used all in One seo and completed meta data on each post etc
Added in some alt image meta data with keywords
Went through all of the posts and threw in some more keywords throughout
Pretty much cleaned up all of the onpage seo issues
    Added some more content.

Then I blasted a few unique articles to articlesbase, goarticles etc
I did a couple blast of backlinks with TLPC
I ran a few blast with No hands SEO
Did a couple free backlink blast online

Now I pinged all and reviewed all of these things up until a few days ago...stayed on page 1 at #9 spot. Never moved.

So I tried these few things in the last couple of days and noticed last night that i moved down one spot from 9 to 10???? I dont get it?

I created a new twitter account. ran tweetattacks, have a few hundred followers. added link to bio etc.
Bought a fiverr gig that included 15 edu links and 15 edu wiki links which all were pointed to by a spun article that is backlinked and blasted to edu links.
Ran no hands seo for a few more hours...and thats it...?

I would seriously think that with all the manual work and the link building to not garbage sites but edu's and high pr sites that I would either stay at #9 for a while and eventually bump up....but the last thing I thought would happen would be to decrease the 10 spot.

All others 9 sites above have not changed a thing. maybe the top 3 have some more links etc. but they are high pr author. sites. So wondering why big G would bump me down like that?

I know they just did panda 3.3 etc but that what several days ago i juts got bumped down about 1 day ago....? not sure, i am puzzled as all of this work seemed to hurt the site and not help it???

Any advise or others experienced this recently?

I think you should wait more and see what happens for a week or so and see if its stable on #10 or dancing.

Yes I had about 6 unique articles. They were not maximized for main keywords so I went through them, made the articles flow smoothly and added some keywords. Used some density tools to verify. Then added 1 more totally hand written unique article in niche. Added meta data and tags, the whole nine to all articles...

My only guess is it is dancing...but I have watched over this one site for about the last 6 months...none the the 1st page has danced nor moved anywhere so we shall wait and see in the next week.

The backlinks are extremly diversified. I have a really nice mix of web 2.0's social, follow, no follow, edu. a couple .govs etc...articles forums, sigs...I have got a good mix going so hopefully this last fiverr gig once google indexes pages will add a nice bump for me.

Hopefully I will wake up one day this week and report a nice suprise. lol!

Did you stuff the keywords in your added content? If yes this might be a valid reason for this.

NO no no. I no thats hurts your rank. Google isnt stupid. No ive been writing articles and reading on specific methods on keyword density ect. I try not to put more than 3 to 4 main KW in any 500 to 600 word article. I will add as many variations as possible.

I did all the legwork and see the drop and that is why i am boggled...?

You made a post about dropping 1 position? No matter how good you are..sometime you are going to drop a bit. Typically when I drop unless it is out of the ordinary...I know I will come back strong. I wouldn't stress on 1 position buddy. Thanks

A drop of one position is not significant at all... maybe if you was at position 1 then drop to 2 but from 9 to 10 is nothing. Plus seo take time, all that work you did will pay off in a few weeks.

I understand what you guys are saying? I any not angry or nothing like that.
I am just really puzzled as:

This specific keyword has seriously low competition.
The top 8 sites have not moved or changed content in over a year and all 8 have remained at same positions for that time frame,
My site is the only one that has gone from page 3,4,5 to first page at 9 in the last 6 months.

I finally put some decent work into the onpage and off and wanted to see some results. Whether it be in bump in rank, position, traffic, etc...

and the only thing that happened was the drop. So like everyone has said prior it could be the G dance it could be one of a thousand of algorithmic factors i know but just wish wanted to put it our here and see what others have seen out there in the last few weeks...

It's a dance, when you come back it will be your original 9th or better. I see this all the time, the only thing that seems impossible to determine is how long the dancing lasts. I've seen dancing last as short as half a day and as long as a few weeks.

Does anyone know why this dance occurs? Why would it go down one spot and bounce back? I have heard this and read about this several times but never really read any factual data on why it and how it happens???

Continue building links and your site would eventually come out ahead. The worst thing you can do is to stop, after assuming your links are not working.

Remember, SEO is a marathon and slow and steady always wins the race!

what others have said looks like some g dance. I do also dance around more with thinner sites like the one you mention, 5 pages is not much. When you got 30 pages+ or more it is more stable in my experience. But moving up of cause always seems to have this element incorporated.
